Hey everyone, looking for some perspective.

I’m 22M and she’s 22F. We spent about 10 days together at the same field station. During that time we did a lot together — cooked one day, played some sports, went on field visits, and generally hung out quite a bit. I felt some mutual tension/chemistry, but I wasn’t 100% sure, so I didn’t make a big move while we were there.

Now we’re in different cities for fieldwork, and I won’t be able to see her again for about 2 months. Since separating, we’ve been texting regularly, and I’m fairly confident she likes me too based on how she responds and engages. My question is: how should I move things forward from here? I don’t want to come across as desperate or overly needy, but I also know that as a guy I probably need to take some initiative. At the same time, I don’t want to overdo it through texting. Specifically:

Should I express my interest now while we’re long distance, or wait until we meet again in person?

How do I stay connected over these 2 months without turning it into constant texting?

What’s a healthy balance between showing interest and not being desperate or needy ?

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks.
