I’ve (M27) recently started trying a social circle approach to dating by getting into dance classes & socials near me. I have found it to be *perfect* for my personality & current skillset. I’ve always been really good at building attraction on dates but have struggled to do so in cold approach. Dance is basically speed dating, so it’s perfect. It's also super fun. If you’ve never tried it, I highly recommend.
That aside, I’ve found myself in a situation that I think is familiar to a lot of us here. You have a strong connection with a woman, and all the traditional iois are present: she’s flirty with you, laughs at your jokes, is very comfortable with touch on and off the dance floor, finds excuses to be near you. She clearly *likes* you, and all signs point to high attraction.
**However**, when you ask her out on a date, she agrees—BUT with the caveat of “I’m not dating right now” or something similar.
My question are these:
* How do you discern being deep in the friendzone from a situation where a woman is actually attracted but is unavailable right now for some reason or other - whether they just got out of a relationship, are going through something heavy, are traveling a lot in the next 6 months, or something else?
* In the second case, how do you avoid falling into the friendzone and stay relevant as a sexual option in an ongoing social circle dynamic?
* How do you keep the ball moving forward without stepping on her stated boundaries?
Note: Happy to give additional context about my specific situation in DM, but I’m trying to abide by the rules here.
