I could be wrong, but i think there is a very good, practical reason why we should be wary of multiple posts on the same topic -- it spreads the upvotes amongst several posts and makes each less likely to hit the front page where it will be seen by non-MRAs who otherwise would never be aware of the topic. The obvious thing is for the mods to handle the matter, but they are probably scared of being accused of censorship.
