I have a 'friend' who is 33, and he is probably the MOST beta person I have ever met in my life. The thing is, I'm very open minded, and frankly most every guy I have met in my life I would not consider a true beta. Yeah, some may be shy, socially awkward, have low SMVs, come off as beta, but then you get to know them and well, they have girlfriends or have had girlfriends. Granted those girlfriends have low SMVs as well but they got what they can. Maybe I've just lived a life that kinda filtered out the true betas, but I can't think of many real betas that made me think WTF!

Except this one 'friend' (I don't consider him a true friend because he's not a very nice person) is something else. I get the feeling he has never had a girlfriend or may even still be a virgin. I'm primarily still in touch with him because he's such an anomaly in my life that I kinda want to study his personality. I want to see when he finally gets a GF and how he manages to do that. Or if that never happens, what kind of person he becomes.

But what's most fascinating for me is, how is someone still so beta after 33 years of life? He's at the age where he wants to settle down, but he can't even get past the first date. Now he does get a lot of props for trying...the guy uses all sorts of online dating apps and goes out to events to try to meet girls, but at the end of the day, he still can't get past the first date. He does go on dates often, but they end up no where.

I just don't understand how someone, who has had 33 years of experience on earth, who has a decent office job (not a basement dweller with no social interaction), can still remain so beta. His thought process when it comes to girls (and even social interactions) is still very childish, which makes me think he's a virgin.

Now the guy, IMO, has a slightly below average SMV. He has a well-paying job at a very good company. He's 6 foot, fit (works out every day), below average looks. So landing a GF with average SMV should not be that big of an issue. But, he has the most beta, negative, bland, unenergetic, stubborn, pussy, personality I have ever met. (Like he's afraid to go ice skating because one time he fell, landed on his wrist, got a BRUISE, and it hurt. He's also afraid to play basketball or any type of sports because he might get hurt. He also talks a lot of shit about others...we have a mutual friend that recently got a GF and he tries to talk shit about her looks behind his back to me) I just don't understand his inability to look at himself and be like, OK, after 33 years of trying, maybe I should look to change myself because it's not working.

Any literature or more stories on this type of personality? Like how does someone like this come to be? I can understand a basement dweller being beta, but this guy lives an everyday normal life. Is it genetics? Is it the way his parents raised him?

Everyone I have met in my life has worked to change themselves in some way, and most of the time for the better. I've met low self esteem, negative guys that were overweight transform into fit and positive guys. Everybody that I've met who hasn't been as socially successful as they wanted to be, has hit some sort of epiphany one day or another. Except this guy. This guy doesn't have a lot of friends, probably is still a virign, yet he continues to do the same thing over and over again. There's so much opportunity for him to learn and grow, yet he stays the same. He still sees his way of getting a girl is to make more money (basically being a beta buck). He's oblivious to the fact that many guys without money get a lot of girls. What he really should do is work on his personality and stop being a beta, but...I'm not th
