A continuation of my series on this study, due to new-found data that was clearly written in the study itself. What a blunder that I didn't see it before, and it was brought to my attention by meanidea, so thanks to them.

The new found data: Women perpetrated 79.2% of made-to-penetrate cases. For the purposes of clarity, I will use "rape" to designate "made-to-penetrate".

I can't believe I missed that 79.2% figure. Before I move on, I want to re-iterate that I believe these estimates are over-exaggerated by significantly broad questions and definitions. Further, any future mention of rape or "rape" includes attempts as well. I am using 12 month figures:

0.067 unknown 12 month rape rate = 0.067 (1/5) * 1581000 = 21.2k men raped by women, (1/5) is from the made-to-penetrate ratio between lifetime:12-month.

0.933 unknown 12 month rape rate = 0.933 (1/5) * 1581000 = 295k men raped by men

So, over the past 12 months, 37% of rapists were women.

As noted in previous submissions, we know that men make up ~50% or so of the victims over the past 12 months.

What remains an anomaly is the discrepancy in the lifetime:12-month ratio between men and women. For women, it's 18:1, and for men, it's 5:1. Assuming that girls are raped ~3x more than boys is not the answer. What this survey illustrates is that societal assumptions about who the victims are, by gender, are wrong. For males to represent 25% of similarly aged victims when under-aged, and then 50% when of-age, requires a leap of faith. The other possible explanation for the ratio discrepancy is that women overestimate, and/or men underestimate, their victimization in the distant past. Regardless, there are too many unknowns and questions surrounding the lifetime ratio discrepancy. The 12-month figures do not suffer from these uncertainties.

What remains appalling is that we get these figures, 37% of perpetrators are women, 50% of victims are men, and these unjust definitions that exclude male victims of rape, and it was all just ignored in the PR surrounding this study.

The myth that ~99% of rapists are men, and ~9% of rape victims are men (and mostly at the hands of other men), continue to persist despite this data.
