Different men like different things.

[–]americanlady[S] -2 points-1 points0 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not really though. I've only met a handful of guys who liked short hair or fat women. I think there's a general prototype of the skinny, big butt, big boobs, long-haired girl that 99% of guys want.

Then ignore what he says and wear dresses. Eventually you'll scare him off and find a real alpha.

[–]americanlady[S] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why would wearing dresses "scare him off"? He didn't even voice his preference until I asked him. The only thing I can think of is that maybe I wore so many dresses for so many years that now he wants to change it up.

Ohhh, noes, my boyfriend wants one thing but complete strangers on the internet tell me another thing!!!! Should I listen to my boyfriend or strangers???

You sound like a troll.

[–]TempestTcup 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In case you are not a troll, we don't have any rules except: find a GOOD MAN and listen to him. It might do you some good to make yourself attractive to him as well.

Between the post and replies this person sounds more like a troll than any other I've ever seen here.

Yeah, we are pretty quick to ban hammer anything that looks like a nail, lol. Sometimes we toy with them first for our amusement :)

[–]americanlady[S] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oooh, got me there! Better go back to my bridge!

No, not a troll, just really confused because I have never once heard of a man preferring shorter hair, even if it's still considered long.

[–]BakerofpieEndorsed Contributor 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

...No. Lots of men don't like super-long hair on women. How is it strange that people have different opinions? If you care to look nice for him specifically, cut it. If you're too worried about it ruining your prospects for other dudes who would like you to keep your hair long, keep your hair and get rid of him because obviously you aren't all that serious about him if that's the case. 3 inches will grow back in six months.

[–]americanlady[S] -3 points-2 points-1 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm obviously going to do what he wants and I made it pretty clear I have no desire for other men or even attention from other men. Besides, cutting my hair 3 inches wouldn't prevent other guys from hitting on me, lol. I just wanted input because I thought his preferences were quite confusing and contradictory with what I always thought men liked.

I never said I didn't buy into it, only that he doesn't really need any help in that area of his life. A lot of guys who turn to that type of stuff need to take their lives back and gain power/attractiveness...my SO has never had any issues with that and he has always been 100% the leader in our relationship, has always gotten his way so...yeah.

I'm a little confused as to how you're defending the guys who say they won't go near a woman over 25 and/or they'll dump their wives for teenagers from Southeast Asia, but the same people are telling me I need to have more "self worth". Isn't the whole point of being a red pill woman getting rid of your self worth and being subservient to men? Genuine question.

I'm a little disturbed at how aggressive everyone is getting. My question was relevant and not offensive. I already "tried talking to him" and he couldn't explain why he liked those things.

Some guys are different, my husband doesn't sit by the fireplace, smoking cigars, drinking scotch and listening to jazz. I think what we should take from TRP is that in relationships we should do what can bring happiness and pleasure to our partners so if he likes your hair short why not? RPW need to maintain whatever sex appeal they have and if he finds you sexy in jeans and heels there's nothing wrong with that.

[–]americanlady[S] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

So it's not super weird? Someone told me he must be doing it just to sabotage my attractiveness, but that would be weird of him to do...he knows I have no desire for other men.

[–]masturbateawy2 points 12 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

I would also like to add the jeans and heels thing is not masculine, especially if your jeans are curve-hugging (which is what your OP implies) and heels are definitely sexy and feminine.

My husband doesn't like that I wear much make up, he loves a little lip gloss, some eyeshadow and mascara but likes it to be kept simple.

[–]americanlady[S] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Interesting! Yeah, i think he just likes the jeans because they show off my butt, and he's a butt guy. Same reason I guess he likes the tighter dresses more than the flouncier ones.

[–]BakerofpieEndorsed Contributor 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not even the teeny tiniest bit weird. Seriously.

[–]maryadeline 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good lord. Its not like he asked you to cut your hair in to a pixie cut. Maybe he likes mid shoulder length hair. Its medium length. Some women look plain and boring with long hair. I know plenty of men who prefer shorter hair on women. If you spend the rest of your life worrying about how your partner wants you to look and if he's trying to sabotage you, you're gonna have a bad time.

hahahaha wtf

He's done plenty for me. The haircut he suggested wasn't even that big of a deal. I don't know how you can be on this subreddit if you automatically have such a man-hating response to someone simply wanting to look nice for an SO.

In short, what you describe is frequently considered attractive:

  • 3-4 inches above the bra strap/nipples is still well past the shoulders/mid length hair, and with proper styling can be super hot.
  • Loose dresses hide a lot of lower body flab. Women who exercise and are in great shape tend to look amazing in tight jeans. The trick is to dress it up with feminine shoes/tops.
  • Natural-looking makeup is a huge thing, I thought? You should check, but maybe this is what your boyfriend means. I've noticed that Asian celebrities seem to be really good at it. A few movies seem to give their actresses a very natural, toned down look.

Now my search history is super awkward. Whoops.

Anyway, you also ask in this thread about whether this subreddit is about being subservient to men. Can't speak for any of the other ladies lurking about here, but I personally don't think so. To me, r/TRP and r/RPW believe in hard truths about what sexual attractiveness means for men and women. Assuming these truths hold, the natural next step for women is to optimize and learn how to find/keep a good partner.

Women can do this by bringing to the table traits that are attractive to their partners (statistically, this includes physical attractiveness/fitness, responsibility, ability to keep a house functioning, etc.). It's not being subservient, because men can and should bring to the table traits attractive to their partners as well. And yes, YMMV, but just because statistically these traits are different by gender doesn't mean one party is subservient to the other, in my opinion.

Side note: I have noticed that the general trend in r/TRP is to caution men away from LTR's and committing to one woman. There is also at times some anger from a few individuals that crops up. Can't speak for anyone else (again), but that's just noise to me. My focus is on my own relationship, and not the relationships (or lack thereof) from TRP posters. I just read their stuff to gather more data and optimize for myself. shrug

Does he have a good relationship with his mom? Did she have shoulder length hair?

Is your hair healthy? Is it stringy in the ends? Maybe he likes a certain actress's hair cut and fantasizes you having the same!? Who knows. Do you love and trust him? If so this is not a big deal unless you make it one.

Don't all men want super long hair on women?

That's kind of a ridiculous generalization; yes most RP men will like longer hair on women but he's not asking you to look like a man, shoulder length is still quite acceptable and feminine.

Don't men want super feminine women?

Men will want what they want! Mine doesn't want me to wear makeup, high heels or dresses. He likes me in jeans and t-shirts. He's still an alpha and I'm still valuable to him. You need to open those lines of communication with him now and find out his likes and dislikes sooner than later if you're serious about making a life with him. You need to know if you are compatible in all the more serious aspects of life too or you are both just wasting each other's time.
