As a general rule, most men prefer longer hair. If your husband is an exception (as long as it is the certain type of short style that he prefers) then you are good. His opinion is the only one you need to concern yourself with. Asking him first and getting his permission/approval is the main thing because at the end of the day, who do you want to turn on and/or please with your appearance?

This is basically what I came here to say. I often have shorter hair (like OP's friend, my hair usually grows out poorly, I've done every remedy in the book to no avail, I think it's genetic) but I always ask my husband before I get it cut.

Fortunately he has a thing for short haired girls so he's usually enthusiastic about it. But I always get his approval before I do any appearance change that can't be immediately reversed.

Yeah I do this too. I asked for his opinion before I pierced my nose and got my tattoo, he likes both :) I am working on designing a tattoo for him too. (I am an illustrator-I would never actually DO a tattoo for someone-I'm too afraid of making a mistake on someone's skin! I'd feel SOO bad! I just draw it up and pay a professional to do my design)

Totally! Thanks for the input. I'm still on the fence about it because I know it takes a relatively long time to grow back. I do know that when I had short hair in the past, it motivated me to doll myself up more, and I felt that I looked really cute. I think I am just a little paranoid about it because I have read some rant written a man about how girls who cut their hair are "messed up and deranged." He even went as far as to say that when women compliment another women's short hair cut are just lying to them so that they feel more attractive in comparison! I am 100% honest when I say my friend looks more attractive with shorter hair thank you very much! Here is the article, by the way. http://www.returnofkings.com/26763/girls-with-short-hair-are-damaged

Ok here's the thing with the short hair debate: when you get down to the biological level, long hair shows off your health for an extended period of time. That is fact and there is no getting around it. So there is logic behind a woman cutting her hair off to hide something.

Being married can change that dynamic a bit because arguably your husband already knows any mental or physical health issues you have. Plus if you are really embracing RP, you should be looking at your marriage as forever, so if your husband is down then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Sure, some red pillers might argue that he is either beta or has a fetish if he is ok with short hair. Hell, maybe he could have a fetish. So what? If anything, I want to indulge my husbands fetishes, desires, and do everything I can to keep him happy and interested. None of that helps your decision regarding how permanent a change it is and how much of a pain it is to grow back out though!

I don't really like to label people as "beta" or "alpha" because I think it is more of a spectrum. I'd say my husband is a mix of both and I wouldn't have it any other way. But yeah we have been together since 2007, married since 2011. He is a personal trainer/yoga instructor and I have been working out with him for years. Not trying to brag but he knows that I am in great shape. He says he GENERALLY prefers longish hair, but also likes shorter styles if they are edgy. (As an illustrator/graphic artist I hate that word "edgy" but it is the best word I can think of in regards to hair! I mean like cool and stylish-not old ladyish)

[–]blushing_goddess 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

A lot of us here totally agree that it's a spectrum! But people tend to fall to one side or the other. Maybe pull up a couple options of long and short styles, and without mentioning your preference for the short style, ask him for his honest favorites. If he is a mix of "alpha" and "beta" he might be inclined to temper his opinion to respect your opinion to the point that you won't always get the full truth. And your appearance is important, and hair takes a while to grow back.

As for what other RP guys say about girls with short hair...a decent chunk of mild-to-moderate RPW doesn't see eye to eye with the more extreme RP men. I'd say we all agree that long hair is more feminine, but I don't think it's a sign that a girl is damaged or mentally ill. Lol, that's just silly. And it really doesn't matter what another man thinks as long as YOUR man likes it. :)

[–]leetendo851 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Thanks! Yeah like I said I was a little put off by it in the beginning, because the extreme RP men seem really vocal and well...extreme. I also feel that long hair is generally more feminine, but it doesn't work for everyone. Personally I think it looks better to have shorter hair that looks healthy and stylish than long, damaged or thin hair. If having a shorter hair style makes you FEEL prettier, than you will act prettier, if that makes sense. But yeah, I am not looking for approval from men other than my husband anyway.

[–]blushing_goddess 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I understand. I discounted RPW at first because I thought TRP was pretty hateful towards women at times. And there are some philosophies I just don't agree with. However, the sidebar has a link that is called "The difference between TRP and RPW" or something like that, and I would suggest checking it out. It kinda explains some of the attitudes, and RPW doesn't condone any of the things that I can't agree with any way. Lol!

You definitely want healthy short/mid-length hair over damaged long hair! The whole idea of the long hair thing was kind of mentioned before; some people believe that it shows extended periods of health (your hair is a great indicator of health) and that it entices a mate because of all those fun evolutionary reasons. Whether or not that's true, short hair can still be feminine and beautiful. I would opt for a glossy crop over a straw-like mane any day. :)

RoK is a clickbait blog that has had articles with titles such as "Why You Should Start Smoking", "American Children Are The Prisoners Of Women", and "All Women Are Nymphomaniacs Who Crave Rough Sex".

The purpose of the blog is to get people to read it and view the ads.

If you find TRP to be a little too raw...

We love seeing new girls, but we really don't tolerate calling the men in our brother sub whiny and bitter. They are going through a sort of grieving process while shedding all the feminism that has been instilled in them since birth where they were raised to be nice meek boys. A lot of them are still in the early stages which include denial and anger.

I had to remove this post, but if you would like to remove the parts about the guys being whiny and bitter, I would be more than happy to un-remove it, or if you would like to re-write and re-submit, that would be great too.

[–]leetendo851 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Really? I don't think it was necessary to remove. I was simply stating the impression I got from it. I stand by my words. Some of those guys say much worse things about women than "whiny and bitter." I'm all for being supportive, but some guys (or better PEOPLE) are that way, there is nothing wrong with calling them out on it.

[–]TempestTcup 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It is actually possible to talk about hair without bashing people; bad-talking the members of our brother subreddit really wasn't necessary for the conversation. It was spiteful and mean. If you leave the one sentence out, the question still remains the same.

there is nothing wrong with calling them out on it.

We try to not act like ball-busting bitches around here and that includes "calling out" TRP.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

this isnt about "Team Woman", who cares what they say about "women". this isnt a pace to "call men out" and if you ARE "calling men out" then you are an entitled shrew.
