Well, for one, I wouldn't recommend holding off on life plans, like buying a house, until some boy shows up. It could literally be years before you meet the right guy, which is awesome, because you're 19. I also wouldn't recommend buying a home with anyone you aren't married to and two years is mighty short turn around for that, when you're single. If that's something you can do at 21, go for it.

I would normally advise anyone college age to get the most out of meeting people organically, even if they're also dating online. We're not living in normal times right now, though, so I think getting your feet wet with online dating is a good idea. Have a Zoom date. Go for a walk around the park with someone. Figure out what you're doing.

All that said, lose the timeline. You're 19 and getting married any time soon is a bad idea, anyway. Go date, but don't put some huge expectations on men you're just meeting. The clock is barely ticking for you. You're fine.

Don't buy a house with anyone you aren't married to. If you have the ability to buy a house now, or at graduation, then do it. Do not put off buying a house because you're single. Its not a flower arrangement or some other sentimental purchase that you should get his input in; its a place to live and prevents you from wasting rent money.

You really didn't miss the window of opportunity. You have time. Just because you have time doesn't mean you should waste it, but the guys aren't all married up yet. If marriage is what you want out of life (and you're here, so...) then that is what you should pursue. You should look where guys that you would want are. Dating sites are fine. Just don't use hookup sites. And don't date for the sake of dating; date for the sake of marrying and only give time to guys who share your goals.

I am 34 years old. I always wanted to marry young and have children. When people would ask me it your age where I wanted to be in 5 years I would say, Married with Children and a stay-at-home mom.

I didn't date in high school either. High School boys are stupid. I wanted somebody who was serious and who I could be serious about. I had the opportunity to date in my early twenties but I never found anyone I was willing to give my first kiss to. When I was 26 I met my current husband online. We actually fell in love before we even met for the first time. And you would have to know his past to understand that it wasn't simple or an easy thing just say to each other. (This sort of dating isn't for everyone. Honesty is a premium and "dating games" are a strict NO.)

When I graduated college at 27 I moved in with him and we were married by the time I was 29. Right now I have a two-and-a-half-year-old playing in the living room and a five-month-old asleep in her crib. I am a stay-at-home mom living in a house that we own. My dream came a little bit later than I thought but I am glad I waited and was discerning. My husband was my first kiss and my first everything. I am eternally grateful for him.

Christ Jesus Himself was watching over me. If my husband had been less than who he is I could have been seriously hurt and wrecked for trusting him.

I’m in the same boat as you and am also (19F), 20 in about 5 months. However, I have been kissed and out on very few dates (first date at 16, first kiss at 18 so I am also a late bloomer). I also haven’t been in a relationship or had sexual intimacy.

Like you I am very stressed about it. All my friends are getting to their most serious relationships, I’ve seen people my age get engaged or in serious relationships. I am also very insecure and always have been. I am quick to judge and have trust issues, hence my troubles.

I think I need to take my own advice, but I’m sure things will get better for us. We need to work on our confidence and loving ourselves otherwise we will probably never be in a healthy relationship. Good on you for working on your “glow up”. I’m doing that too and I “glowed down” immensely once my last date broke it off with me and got himself a serious girlfriend. It’s very important to try and keep social, even if it’s via video call due to restrictions. Things have been hard because of COVID restrictions.

I online date, that’s how I met my last date and my first kiss. Most of the time the guys are weirdos and just want sex, but some of them are genuine and are looking for a date/relationship. Just keep your options open but at the same time be wary of red flags (e.g. lovebombing, only talking about sex, still have pictures of their “ex“ on social media that are fairly recent). It does help with confidence and learning how the dating world works.
