Get a book, get a tape recorder, and sit down and read it. Pay attention to your enunciation. Focus on clear, concise, free flowing, speech. Listen to it and then do it again, only better. Work up to more and more difficult books. As a matter of fact, I would start with a book with more difficult words to pronounce, maybe a medical journal. It will force you to slow down and focus on your articulation.

FWIW, I used to be a Speech therapist but it's been years since I've practiced. Give it a shot. Take notes about what you hear and where to improve.

I've always been a fast speaker.

Fix that shit. It's not hard to speak slower. You just fucking...speak...fucking....slower.

The problem is caused by anxiety and outcome dependence - wanting your moment in the spotlight to be over so you can hurry on to being judged and start to deal with the acceptance or rejection part of that, knowing it's probably basically rejection.

Learn to just enjoy the process of talking and leading, and take your own sweet fucking time about it.

I can hear it coming across even when you write; you have a lot of run-on sentences and tend to keep going without pausing to phrase things out.

At home my dad and his side of the family we've always been rapid speakers and my mom's grown accustomed to it, but whenever I go out, I'm in class or at work and I speak I often find myself having to repeat what I said because I talk too fast for others to understand me.

Jesus, I can only imagine this sentence spoken fast. It's bad enough in text form. It's not so much a sentence as it is a piece of tactical assault language.

Well it's not that I don't enjoy speaking or having myself be heard, the real problem lays in my head where I feel like I speak slowly but in reality I don't.

When I read these aloud to myself they sound like too many words. "And..." , "But...", "Well..." -- and you're off on another thought train.

It's not just your lip speed. It's that you're just opening your trap to fill the sound space. Think about what you want to say first, and then say it clearly and concisely, with fewer words.

put marbles in your mouth and read a classic aloud every day, keep doing that until you can understand yourself.

When I read things, I often practise presenting what I'm reading as though I were on the news, or making a youtube video or something.

When I see a media article that is bullshit (most of them are), I might sit down for a little while and write out my take on exactly why it is bullshit, as though I'm going to have to read it out loud, to convince somebody stupid who doesn't already see the world the way I do.

This is my way of practising articulation, like you want to do. But I recommend it for other reasons too:

It'll help you catch any stupid ideas you have floating around in your head, so you're refining your mindset and can actually be confident about what you're saying. (Which is a good way to seem confident, yeah?)

It also gives you a chance to pre-construct the sentences you'll need, when you later try to make conversation. That way, you will be able to direct more of your brain power to control the way you say things, because you don't have to focus so hard simply on which words to put in which order.

Which leads to the final reason for doing this - the fact that each girl you'll be talking to is that hypothetical idiot who needs ideas spelled out to them. They aren't good at philosophy. They follow what ideas are popular. Set yourself apart, by showing that you think for yourself.

(I am not a speech therapist though. This is just how I've tackled my similar problems.)

YouTube sluggish speech. You basically have to train your mouth muscles and use them more as you open your mouth wider to speak.
