Any good material for learning to to talk to people in general, being more social able, and being able to hold a conversation without running out of things to say almost immediately? I'm so closed in.

The news. Read your local news and start conversations with random people. Not just attractive girls. Anyone. Ask questions. Ask for opinions on hot topics, but don't bother voicing your own opinions.

Interview people and listen. If you pay attention, you'll find the next question on the previous answer. People love to talk about themselves and their opinions.

Pretend you're a talk show host. Whatch a few talk shows like Conan, Letterman etc.

All you need is practice, practice and practice.

Read "How to win friends and influence people" and "The charisma myth". They helped me the most. Focus on the other person and pay attention to them and focus on what they are saying when they talk rather than thinking about what you're going to say next. Smile, hold eye contact, talk slowly and thoughtfully. Feels weird at first but practice. It will work.

I'd say no material is more worth it than a retail job, even if it's just a one day a week on the weekend type.

If you're earning money while you're practising, it's a win win situation. It's your actual job to go up to people.

Your best bet is to start talking to people IRL. Form a habit where you engage with as many people as you can during the day. Personally, I took a month and focused on saying hi and making eye contact with everyone I passed. From there, it's easy to throw in a 'how's it goin'. Again, make this a HABIT. By doing this, it becomes more natural for you to engage with another person than to avoid interaction. Now you can transition to striking up small talk with those around you. Don't overthink the topic, people are usually happy to chat about the most mundane details. I got laid off of asking a girl what her favorite type of apple was.

You have to force yourself to get in the habit. My problem is I have to fake interest in the day-to-day mundane BS that fills most peoples conversations. Talking about deep life topics on the other hand? Oh yeah.

Am I the only one who sees the irony in this question?

How to be more social:

Step 1: Take shower

Step 2: Brush teeth with good toothpaste

Step 3: Put on clothes

Step 4: Walk outside

Step 5: Look around

Step 6: See someone

Step 7: Go say hi

Side note - You will meet tons of people but only a few select ones will "click" with you. But you will know when you two click. Don't get disappointed if you don't click with someone. I meet tons of people per day and only have like 4 good friends.

Don't know how many guys I have met by simply being near them and saying: "Dude, dude...check out the ass on that bitch".

Loving hot women is the common denominator between men. Don't care if you are straight, gay, tranny, nerd, geek, jock, etc. All men love hot women. So, that is an easy conversation topic.

Larry King has a few interviews you can watch, where they interview HIM and ask him about his career. I watched one by "the young terks" (hate them otherwise) where they interviewed him and he said a lot of good stuff.

Also, Larry King has a book about how to talk to anyone. The audio book should be available via torrent or amazon, and he narrates it. I liked that too.

Get hobbies, go out, meet interesting people.
