Think of Facebook as another online dating website.

If you have great pictures, it can be a potent tool for marketing your personal "brand".

Otherwise, put the privacy settings on high and just use it as a means for keeping in touch with people.

It's better. More mystery = more wondering about you = more that you're on their mind = what you want.

You can game on social media, but they will know everything about you in a matter of minutes, and that takes some of the mystery from you, which is something women like.

Social Media is a waste of time, you can only have a limited number of meaningful friendships/contacts.

I personally only use facebook where I have a private group of 12 people, and that's it

Complete waste of time. Get your social proof in real life, not online. One woman recognizing you at a bar and coming over to say Hello is worth 100 posting on your Facebook wall.

Do:

Use Twitter for professional purposes (if you are in a field where industry leaders are having discussions there)
Use LinkedIn for professional purposes, but only if your career history is worth posting (will give a good impression to potential employers or business partners)
Use SnapChat if your plates have it (dem nudez)
Have a professional blog/portfolio that details interesting or high-level work you're doing (if relevant to your field)

Don't:

Have a facebook
Compare yourself to others on social networks (it's a skewed image of their lives - they only post the good/happy/successful parts of their lives. Those that post non good/happy/successful shit are whiney bitches with no sense of pertinence)
Look up your exes on social networks

You are completley right on this being a waste of time...but it DOES matter to a lot of very young Amercian girls. If these are the types of girls you want, then you might have some trouble.

I have lost out on bangs because I don't have a facebook or do online dating. It's like the chick needs to see my profile before I get the ok.

Again...that was only with they young American types. The girls I really like, European and Latin, give much less of a shit, most of them don't give a shit at all, about looking at you through a screen.

But I don't care, spending time on those sites will stunt your spirit. Better to stay off and lose out on a couple, then your personality will grow faster and stronger in the future.

For all of the reasons you describe, that is precisely why I am NOT on any of the prominent social media sites. I judge women who reach conclusions in that manner about a guy to be callow and superficial. Thus, if my social profile is that important to them, I have filtered out the ones who would inevitably prove to be a waste of time.

I'm sure plenty of old folks here will say none of this social media stuff matters, and just allows users to seek out validation, but I don't think that's entirely the case. Having many friends on Facebook can demonstrate social value, regardless if they are not "quality" friends.

For example, since I'm into dance clubs, I organize and plan a monthly nightlife event in my city when I'm not in my cube and that demonstrates a lot of social value to my peers, both men and women. Facebook is great for getting the word out for these types of things.

If just posting status updates and worrying about how women perceive you is the only thing that worries you, then it's much simpler. Remember that scene in "The Social Network" when Zuckerburg realizes how important "Relationship Status" is in a profile? They want to know "who's having sex and who's not." The (maybe) not-so-obvious choice here would be to not even fill in that field. Keep the mystery. If a chick is looking you up on Facebook, keep the profile scarce. Let their desire flow.

This may be more obvious, but never ever post emotional dribble or share crap articles that tell you the X things that drive Y people crazy. Everything you post should be from you and it should have substance.

Example Facebook posts:

"going 2 the gym 2day lifting hurr durr" - NO: ASKING FOR VALIDATION

"beers w. da boys 2nite" - NOBODY CARES

picutre of your cat - FUCK OFF

video of your cat jumping through a fire ring - PRETTY COOL

"Thank you to DJ X, DJ Y, and DJ Z for playing at TheCoolKidsClub and everyone who came out, it was fun!" - DEMONSTRATES SOCIAL VALUE

Original content is far more interesting. In fact, you're probably already doing it right without the extra social media fluff. This comment turned out much longer than expected, and I'm not feeling 100% that my insight is true to TRP, so I'm open to critiques on my take on social media game.

Social media as much as I hate to admit it plays a huge part in practically fracken everything these days. How many times have you searched a potential plate on FB just to test the water? It's slowly and surely becoming the next bar scene IMO. I would bet my good leg that most if not all the red pillers have picked up a plate or two over one social media site or another. So as far as this goes I personally wouldn't do anything on social media but I'm a caveman my brother on the other hand has 2000 + friends on Facebook and he'd be getting just as much as me. So it comes down to personal preference. You could do the leg work, the social media game or both. Take 'er easy brosef.
