I recently told this story to a female friend and she got very offended and told me there is never a reason to hit a woman. Maybe so, but when I asked what I should have done instead she had no answers.

I was in a very small town, and this was one of the few hot girls in the entire town. Therefore she got away with absolutely everything. She would walk all over guys, take their drinks, physically embarrass them at times and belittle them, etc.

I was shooting a fun promo video for a local club and she was drinking with us, and we were on camera laughing and joking.

A good female friend of mine walked in, and I accidentally snubbed her to give my friend a warm welcome.

My $1000+ camera was handed back to me at that moment by someone else and as I turned back to this little blonde to apologize and keep shooting, she slapped the shit out of my lens. It would have knocked the thing out of my hand if I hadn't had the neck strap on, and I was instantly concerned about if she had done damage.

My reaction was instant, and instinctive. I slapped her in the face.

She just stood there for a second, dumbfounded, and then walked away.
The bouncer came up and told me that he didn't know if I had been joking among friends or not, but he wouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior. I laughed it off and told him not to worry about it.

Nothing else came of it.

I realize I probably could have been jumped by an army of white Knights ♘, and it probably wasn't the ideal move... I shouldn't resort to such things again. But damn. It felt good to treat her like the spoiled little girl she was for a brief moment.
