we both did things we didn't mean to do
Abusive partners love to say shit like this. It absolves their guilt by shifting half the blame on to the other person. There are always two sides, but if all you did was not being the baby monitor, then her behavior is fucked up.
As for what to do, most of the other posts covered it.

How do I deal with this short term?
I would continue doing what you've done. Withdraw emotional contact, let her worry, and wait for the apology. When she apologizes, I'd plow her and give her another chance.
Long term?
Stop being a bitch. I don't see how you could have gotten physically removed from your bed, by a woman. This is coming from a guy who's 5'7 and 140lbs.
bicker and fight
There's only an argument if you argue with her. If I were in your situation (I came upstairs and she tried to kick me out), I'd just lie on the bed, ignore her, and fall asleep.

There's only an argument if you argue with her.
Something very important that people who have been reading about TRP should intuitively understand, but bears clarifying.
If you argue with a woman, you enter her frame. It supposes you and her are on equal footing (which you aren't, you're the leader, she's supposed to follow), and on top of that, you agree to participate in an emotional blame game. Do not do it. The concept of arguing with your woman should be as foreign as the prospect or "sleeping in the doghouse", it's a modern trope and it's good for betas.
For the ladies, if your man truly has done something wrong, bring it up calmly and respectfully, never escalating to shouts and insults. If it's recurring and he doesn't get it, and it really bothers you, cry, men's instinct is to fix whatever makes a woman cry. But don't abuse it.

I'd just lie on the bed, ignore her, and fall asleep.
Also try lifting up the mattress and dumping her ass on the floor.

I've made a small promise to myself that of I ever get married my wife will never successfully kick me out of my bed. There may be days when I don't sleep there out of my own accord (rare but has worked in the past ) but if she dares to tell me to get out that's the last thing I'd do.

Next time she tells you to sleep on the couch, tell her you'll do her one better. Grab your keys and leave without telling her where you're going. Check into a hotel and go Comms dark for the night. Next day come home like nothing's wrong. If she brings it up, tell her she didn't want you there, so you didn't want to be there . Don't tell her where you stayed, be vague and change subject.

Exactly this. If she wants to play spoiled princess, she can do it in an empty unguarded castle
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No, go dark for a few days. Let her think about things.

your wife kicks you out of your bed? your wife kicks you? shouts at you?
.... you fucked up bad
marrying a violent person, why do that?
i hope she doesnt hit your kid too, and if she does you gotta get evidence of it, and have her removed from both your life and the childs life.
if she hits the kid, the kid may grow up to be an abuser too
fix this shit

Outside the context of this subreddit, I feel like I just read a story about domestic violence. She litterally use her strengh for force you to behave how she wants to. No matter what is your weight, your height, your sex, it's domestic violence. If you don't believe me, you can imagine the opposite, you using your strengh for coerce her, would it be domestic violence or not ? And in the context she used violence for punish you, what would it be if you slap her because she failed toddler's food ?
I know my comment can sound not enough manly, but in my country a man die every 10 days because of domestic violence, and I remind you the video where we seen both situations of a man agressed his girlfriend in public, and then the opposite.
Short term : take care of yourself and your kid, and don't care about her.
Long term : send her to a violence counselor, if she refuses move with your kids to your parents or her parents place, and explain them the situation : she is violent, you are scared for your safety and toddler's one.

what country?

France , Uk have almost the same rate. I didn't find any data about it in Us. If someone does, please share.

To me, this violence thing is being blown out of proportion. OP even said it, she was acting like a child. This is something children do when they don't know better. She has to learn to control herself. OP did a decent job with some soft next action, cutting her off, and she'll think twice in the future. It doesn't sound like she's a lost cause.
[–]mistermorteau0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
It is being blow out of proportion like anything else which been under considerate during the rest of the time. Then I just give my opinion by reading this outside of the context of this subreddit. Finally even if op says she acted like a child it's not an excuse for her : a child is by nature cruel and violent, us growup, and especially parents, learn to the children to don't act like this. A child doesn't have a fully develloped human brain, she does. Now what would happen the next time she will be tired and act like a child with their toddler, she will shake it ?
And no she doesn't sound like a lost cause , yet, but she needs to be shown what she did is wrong, and sending her to a counselor, could be a good point : doing her go to ask advice about her behavior to a specialist would make her think twice the next time and give her tools for manage herself. If she refuses and doesn't judge her behavior abusive she is a lost cause.
This just popped on my frontpage : http://www.news-medical.net/news/20140626/Women-are-more-likely-to-be-physically-aggressive-towards-their-partners-than-men.aspx

Probably going to get shit for this. But I've been married for 3 years, but with my spouse for 9.
When you're ready, apologize for forgetting the baby monitor. She will in turn apologize for acting so irrationally. If you're ready to let it go, say "I forgive you." Not "It's ok" not "thanks." not anything else. Say "I forgive you." It will take her aback for a second. Because you're the only person who has the power to forgive her. If your not ready but still want to apologize and she says sorry say "I'm not ready to forgive you yet".
Then tell her it was unacceptable for her to hit you and if she ever does it again, she will literally be sleeping in the yard because you will pick her ass up and put her there in her night gown (or whatever she's wearing at the time). Use a calm voice. Stay calm. If she wants to hamster and talk let her. At the end of it, maintain what you said before, and reiterate that hitting you is unacceptable and if it happens again she will end up outside no matter the weather.
Then, kiss your wife, go hiking, have a good time, and have sexy times in the shower after your long day.

He already apologized right away, there is no reason to do it again.

Stop being a complete pussy..
If your wife kicks you, pushes you, does anything physical with you.
GRAB HER FUCKING ARMS AND RESTRAIN HER. YOU ARE A MAN, act like one.
You should never, ever be in a physical confrontation or fight with a significant other. But if she starts one, you end it. Pin her down, hold her hands behind her back or pinned to the bed. Let her go when she's calmed down.
You do have an abusive wife. But 9/10 times men are physically stronger than women, you have the physical capacity to prevent your own abuse.
[–]1kami_kakushi0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
nah this is no good
physical confrontations should never happen in a family, and should be a last resort in self defense only. if you can walk away, you walk away
people who use violence were brought up with violence in the familes, and this is why they repeat the behaviour as adults. you gotta be the one who makes this change and breaks the chain so as not to pass this on to the child in the house
if you are with someone who uses violence, imo you should leave the relationship then and there, its not worth it. but the only other options is walk away, and then once things have calmed down explain to them you will not accept any kind of violence (personally i dont accept raised voices either, shouting unacceptable behavior imo), and insist that they get help for their issues
add to this, the police will always remove the man in these situations, its never worth it.
dont fight a violent woman, just dump her
