I went on the dating hiatus because I really didn’t want to date the wrong men anymore. There’s nothing worse than dating or having sex with someone you barely like. I’d rather be single than date someone I couldn’t trust, or someone who didn’t respect me. I want a man who wants me for the right reasons. He doesn’t have to be perfect either. I want someone who complements me, and I complement him. We might be better than each other in different ways, but those balance each other out. I want someone who’s not going to laugh at me when I fall, but hold my hand and help me get up.I went on the dating hiatus because I really didn’t want to date the wrong men anymore. Sounds so simple but it's so important.

I think this is a great write up, although I have to say that I'm surprised that she was surprised that prettiness is important! I feel like even in a "blue pill" world, men liking pretty girls is common knowledge? Just me?

It's a weird paradoxical dichotomy in the whole thing. Men and women both know that beauty matters, but both sides feel a burden not to admit it. Our culture goes so far as to label people who purport this belief to be shallow or piggish. There's growing efforts to redefine beauty (to include non-attractive qualities), further muddying the waters. Nowadays, admitting that beauty is a central component of attractiveness is a character flaw.
Well, sort of.
We still see Zac Efron's shirt ripped off of him to glorious applause because he's a sexy beast. So, the paradox of how we treat beauty still is impossible to nail down.
Amidst all of this, people just get really confused. So much so that the obvious becomes illusory.

People don't want to admit it. That's why obese feminists say that real men like "real" women.

I did not find this post to be especially brilliant. Emily L seems to simply be in the epiphany phase, which Rollo has documented well. I've bookmarked this writeup as a textbook example of the epiphany phase in action.

As far as the idea that not being bitchy will attract men - duh?

Nobody likes cold approaching strangers (although some guys manage to make a sport out of it).
If you have a university, museum, or similar intellectual gathering nearby, you could try public lectures. You'll find more single men at a tech/science oriented public lecture, but there will be some guys everywhere.
If you're religious, try guys from church.
Also, anybody you interact with e.g. guys at the checkout counter. If he seems like a good guy, perhaps hand him a slip of paper with your number on it?
