Senior year of high school all I did was hang out with my two friends John and Pat. We would run around their development, play pick up sports, drink, smoke weed, and fuck girls. We did this while I was in college too whenever I was home (they didn’t go).

I made a good amount of college friends, but always felt guilty hanging out with them instead of my two buddies from high school. I felt like I was betraying them in some sense. Like John and Pat cared about me so much more than any of these people in college ever could. I moved back to my hometown and got a job close by after I graduated. I felt like these friendships were something to value. After all we shared so many memories.

But then they stopped hitting me up. They started hanging out with these two girls instead, and sometimes with this other dude they met at work (they work at a wholesale store). And I was fucking devastated, and extremely jealous. I was acting like a jealous crazy psycho bitch when they’d do things with that group and I’d see it on Facebook. I’d ruin holidays for me.

I made every effort I could to try to join the new group, but even when I did get invited it didn’t feel the same as it used to when we were younger.

Then we got into a fight in a group chat two nights ago when I was drunk and I threw a lot of insults at everyone (lost frame).

The next day me and Pat talked over text and he told me he stopped hitting me up along time ago, that we had grown apart, and I finally felt at peace over the whole thing. I guess even though all the signs were there, I had to hear that he didn’t care about be anymore for me to be able to let go.

I had oneitis over these dudes who were completely done with me and I wasn’t reaching out to other friends I had more in common with. Good luck to other guys dealing with this, it can be hard to call it with old friends who’ve checked out of the friendship that you still care about (even when all of their actions should show you that they no longer care about you).
