The obviously orchestrated "outraged" response to Rice's 2 game suspension was disgusting. Someone decided that this was unacceptably lax, that it gave women too little benefit of the doubt.

Reminds me of the other recent case of Donald Sterling, who get stripped of his NBA franchise for telling his girlfriend privately (but secretly being recorded) that he didn't want her bring certain guests (black people) to his team's home games.

Sports journalism is extremely "progressive" and blue-pill about relations of the sexes. This doesn't happen by accident, since I doubt most sports fans, without being told what to think, would hold such views.

This has been kind of a thing in college campuses for two decades or longer. Allegations without due process have ruined more than a few young men unfairly, even when their accusers admit only crying rape because of their "shame" in giving consent in hindsight.

The title of this thread is sensationalist and click-bait.

From the actual memo from Goodell:

If someone is charged with domestic violence or sexual assault, there will be a mandatory evaluation and, where professionally indicated, counseling or other specialized services.

However, it isn't clear from the memo or news reports whether the 6-game suspension requires criminal charges. The above quite appears simply to trigger a mandatory evaluation. The headline of this thread is still a bit sensationalist.

It might help further the discussion to read the actual NFL Personal Conduct Policy (PDF). Like most workplace conduct policies, it does not seem to require conviction. That should be no surprise, and it also shouldn't cause outrage. The NFL, although legally a nonprofit organization, is a business. It is not a court of law. It exists to make money, nothing more.

Secondly, this policy does not apply only to domestic violence and sexual assault matters. It applies to any "violations of the Personal Conduct Policy regarding assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault that involve physical force".

Should rice have been suspended longer? Definitely, there's video evidence of him beating up his girlfriend.

But how about instead of changing the rules, we just enforce the ones we already have?

Edit: Not sure I understand the hate here. There's video evidence of Rice knocking out a woman. Its bullshit when a bitch hits herself to get a black eye so the cops think her bf hit her, by the guy actually did hit this woman and hurt her pretty seriously. Shouldn't the law be enforced?
