So there was a post by one of the subs members where he expressed his anger toward women.. In my reply I stated that he was suffering from what I like to call "Little Timmy Syndrome". The question was then asked how to get over Little Timmy Syndrome so I thought I would make it a post in case there were others out there still in the angry/upset phase that might benefit from my reply.

The hallmark of Little Timmy is that he is upset. So we need to distill this upset down to its bare essence to see what is really driving the intense emotions he is feeling. The answer is simple.

There is one reason you get upset/frustrated/annoyed/disappointed/mad. You wanted something to happen and it didn’t happen. That’s it.

Example #1: •\tLittle Timmy wanted to stay up late. Little Timmy was sent to bed. Little Timmy cried. Little Timmy was upset.

Example #2: •\tLittle Timmy wanted traffic to move faster. Traffic did not move faster. Little Timmy screamed. Little Timmy was upset.

Example #3 •\tLittle Timmy wanted Susan to be faithful. Susan was unfaithful. Little Timmy cried. Little Timmy was upset.

Anytime you get upset just ask yourself. “What did I want to have happen that didn’t”? No matter how big or how small the upset, it boils down to the same formula. I wanted X to happen and X didn’t happen. Welcome to life.

So that is the catalyst that starts the emotional rollercoster ride that Little Timmy is about to go on. Now, if you get this concept and a bell when off in your head GREAT! Then you'll understand completely when I say the way to stop being Little Timmy is to stop being fucking Little Timmy. Now if you need more please read on. If you just said the words "But Dogamaran..." read on.

We now need to dive into your reasons you use to justify your emotional reaction to getting upset and being Little Timmy. Why? Because turning that "what happened" into a full blown emotion. requires a story. A story that justifies the anger and makes it OK. A story that absolves you of responsibility for your emotion and makes it OK. And yes it's a story that YOU make up.

So let me repeat this. Every emotion and feeling that you experience that does NOT involve a physical sensation like being hit or burned etc. is based on a story that you tell yourself. Every emotion and feeling that you experience is created by you. I'll even say it again… EVERY EMOTION and feeling that you experience is created by you. It's not outside influences or occurrences that create emotions. It's you.

Now this isn’t a good thing and it’s not a bad thing. The emotion comes from the story attached to the event. It’s just the way the mind works until you override it. People will say things like “My emotions are REAL, I get angry, happy, sad, depressed and lonely!” Of course you do. What you do not realize is all of it.. yes all of it.. is based on a story that you tell yourself.

Examples:

A person is killed in a car crash. What happened was simple.. Someone was killed in a car crash. That is it…nothing more. The emotion that will follow this event will be very different for lots of different people based on the story that is created around the event. Lets say the person in the car was an 18 year old girl driving to college. Sad right? But why? It’s sad because of the story we create around it. She was so young… she was just starting her life… she was innocent.

Now add the fact that police found a half drunk bottle of vodka in the car and she was high on lots of drugs. The story changes. Add to that the fact that before she died she ran over a little boy, his legs were crushed and 85% of his body was burned. Now, it’s not sad… Now maybe it’s an outrage! Some may say she had it coming, she was a horrible person etc.. This is how we create emotions. It’s not the event that creates the emotions… it’s what that event means to us. You change the meaning, you change the feeling.

If your girlfriend calls you up and breaks up with you, you might be “devastated” or “elated” depending on the story surrounding the breakup. If you are “free”, then you are happy. If you are “losing you best friend” you might be angry and sad. Either way the event is she broke up with you. The feeling is the story. So... change the story, change the emotion.

You can see how a person holding on to the story that "Women shouldn't fucking be this fucking way" or "Women always fuck me over" is setting himself up for a life of upset. NOW everytime that you wanted x to happen and it didn't with respect to women this story will rear it's ugly head and justify you getting and remaining upset and acting like... LITTLE TIMMY.

TLDR: Shit happens. Don't be Little Timmy.

I hope you enjoyed My2cents.
