If you felt no consequences for doing what felt good, wouldn't you do what felt good all the time?

You mean, like the Federal Reserve?
;)

Reading a book like The Key Logger, you almost start to understand why Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia enforce severe restrictions on women through Sharia law (note for the slow: that is not an endorsement of Sharia): it’s about controlling womens’ addiction to attention. When you force women to wear burqas every time they leave the house and restrict their interactions with men other than their husbands, you’re eliminating the means by which women become addiction junkies, theoretically preserving marriages and families.
Yowzah! So on point

Yeah, I noticed that too, and it all kind of makes sense now. Regardless of how Islam compares to modern cultures, Islam was at one point the most advanced civilization in the world. It's no wonder they learned a thing or two about social dynamics and instated laws to prevent the breakdown of families.

I realise this is probably an unpopular opinion to hold on reddit but I'm a Muslim and I see a lot of similarities between TRP and Islamic rules and principles. Just an added note as well Saudia Arabia, contrary to popular belief, is a very poor example of Islamic law implemented in a society.
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree, I see a lot of similarities between Islamic values and traditional Christian values. In fact, I'd say that most civilized cultures have similar traditional values.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
As a Christian, I feel you on this -- Reddit is predominantly atheistic, but TRP shares a surprising amount of overlap with traditional theist values.
It's also a shame that Reddit makes any Christian / Islamic interdialogue impossible because of demagogues on both sides, which is a shame. I'd actually like to hear more about the Islamic / TRP overlap some time.

Mmm I know what you mean. Tbh I feel like most of the time reddit is just comprised of narrow minded, angry pseudo-intellectuals. It's a bit of a generalisation but well stereotypes always have at least a bit of truth in them. This sub and some of the other smaller ones are a nice breath of fresh air.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Could not agree more.
This isn't related to the topic at hand so feel free to ignore it, but your post reminds me that I've been putting off learning more about Christianity's sister religion. Are there places on Reddit or elsewhere that would make a good starting point for a novice like myself? I'd be immensely grateful.
[–]Cypher2110 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Cool, it's great to see someone taking an interest in the way you do. I actually wanted to explore religions like Christianity a bit more but sadly I don't have a whole lot of time at the moment.
In all honesty nothing comes to mind off the top of my head. You can learn about the superficial elements of Islam pretty much anywhere on the web but if you're after a deeper understanding the Internet isn't really a great place to start tbh. There's a lot of BS mixed in with the facts and a lot of people who in all honesty don't really know what they're talking about.
I know it's probably not what you hoped for but I'd be happy to try and answer some of your questions if you have any you'd like to swing by me, if you wanted to start with the fundamentals then most sources would be ok for that.

I find it hilarious how much of what he states there applies to my own experiences - even though I was blind of this at the time.
One particular event that sticks in my memory was a few exes ago when I wan in a LDR and we were both cheating on each other in the end, though she did not know about me while I had friends who told me all about her shenanigans.
I remember the night we broke up, I was talking to her best friend (who was an extremely close friend of mine because she loved me but I had only platonic feelings for her) and she was telling me about how my now ex was planning an outing with the guy she was seeing for some time now the next day. I was talking to her about the day I had with the girl I was seeing on the side and her response was "so you were cheating on her?!" I almost burst out laughing, but I played it off like it was a new thing.
Can you imagine telling someone that the girl they were dating until that very morning is planning a date with her new boy toy and then accusing the guy of cheating because he moved on? Ah, women.

Seems like it's probably an interesting read but I would be very careful about extrapolating these experiences out to all women. The type of woman who is more naturally monogamous wouldn't be interested in a casual uncommitted dater like 20Nation. If a girl is easy to fuck for you she's easy to fuck for others. In before I get called out for NAWALT, I'm just saying these women are likely shittier than what you deal with if your selection criteria are optimized for finding a single trustworthy woman.

I've read the book, and 20Nation spends some time addressing what you've said here.
The type of woman who is more naturally monogamous
A few of the girls (which he refers to by number, and by a key characteristic of hers) actually start out as being "naturally monogamous" as you put it (a bullshit term, because none of us are naturally monogamous). And all of them end up maintaining interactions on the side just like the women who were more openly slutty.
You might be thinking, "Well yeah, a girl's always gonna have male followers. Can't stop that from happening."
Thing is, even the "good girls" were sending declarations of interest and longing back and forth between these men they were keeping at arm's length. Despite their self-proclaimed traditional values, these women could not resist the urge to seek that validation.
Now, I agree with the author of the post in the original link: 20Nation made some fatal mistakes which I believe led to these women continuously seeking validation. But all women are fundamentally capable and inclined to seek attention.
So yes, AWALT.

I actually kind of wonder if it isn't a consequence of the fact that 20Nation and many other posters here are likely banging women with much higher SMV than I am.
Men and women who are 7.5-10s are naturally going to have more orbiters/followers/opportunities and anyone with so many options is going to have a harder time being faithful. I know if I was in a relationship with a Latina 8 but I had a blonde 8 and a Japanese 8 being flirtatious it would be hard as fuck for me...but that sort of shit doesn't exist in my world. So I wonder if the reason my anecdotal experiences seem to differ in some of these ways is because the women I fuck don't have as many chances to get orbiters. On the other hand if you are fucking beautiful women then you KNOW they are being stopped on the street, have guys trying nice guy game, coworkers trying to build attraction, etc.

One of the key things to watch is if a woman tells you about the other guys that hit on her.
If she does, then she's committed to you... at least for now. If she doesn't, then she is at least looking for an exit strategy to keep on hand.
[–]Inexplicably_Hostile7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is really really dumb advice. She can easily tell you about some and leave others out.
[–]N3vertheless0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
This makes soooo much sense. Why did I never think of it? They will use the other guys to make you jealous if they are trying to DMV

Just be the "leader" in any mixed-gender social group. Could be something unimportant like a Meetup.com group, softball club, whatever. This will automatically expose you to women (single and attached) who will see you as automatically DHV'ing on a regular basis. You will have no shortage of Dread Game raw material (and strange, should you want it.)
[–]rarlcove2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
doesn't exist. Girls want one guy at a time, but are never actually committed to a single guy.

Yet another inexperienced commentor... once you get to a certain point ALL women are easy to sleep with, no exceptions, none, zill, nada, zilch, there isnt a fucking unicorn out there, just women and men with biological imperatives driving their actions.

Isn't this why the muslims in some countries cut the girls clits off? To make them more faithful?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_genital_mutilation
It is praised in several hadith (sayings attributed to Muhammad) as noble but not required, along with advice that the milder forms are kinder to women.

Sourced cuz hey, even though this is TRP say anything negative about islam and some of you bitches gonna get upset and have that cute little trigger response that makes my dick hard.

America started circumcising boys to stop them spanking the monkey, didn't work.
Especially if you don't like girls (like mayo).

Good thing most women aren't that tech savvy then, this goes double for really hot women.
Less on of the day: only date hot women because they aren't tech savvy enough to spy on you.

It seems like it!
I doubt she'll be as proud of those when she's 35, single, and childless lol.

Except if she's hot she'll leech onto a beta provider long before that. The bad people always win.
