UPDATE: Apparently some twitter legbeards made a list of the people supporting this on github (which was taken down soon after) and proceeded to call the supporter's companies telling them they were "participating in the harassment of women" so they tried to get them fired.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan 42 points43 points44 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

WOW. Really? This programming parody is harassment of women? This parody harms no one, if anything, it made people chuckle. LOL. Pathetic. Kill yourselves you silly bitches. You're so privileged you try to ruin peoples livelihoods with your sensibilities. Vile, despicable human beings. BE ASHAMED, very ashamed.

[–][deleted] 32 points33 points34 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

How do they expect people to take them serious if they take criticism (even in humor form) as a personal attack? Sounds like the behaviour of spoiled children to me.

[–]TRP Vanguard: "Dark Triad Expert"IllimitableMan 36 points37 points38 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This is what happens when a class of people in society are subjected to no moral standards or codes of conduct, as simply any imposition on their freedom to act like unilateral assholes is framed as oppression and some imaginary patriarchy entity is mentioned, taking an immediate victim position and trying to psychologically insert guilt into the opponent, particularly if they're male, especially if they're white.

Feminism has become a parody itself. One could deduce the reason they feel threatened is that a parody does not take their insincere grievances seriously, and any transgression on the seriousness of their delusions wholly offends them, such is typical of a zealous, extremist response to rational groups who criticise them, eg: athiests who criticise islamism. Feminism parodied blurred lines, stop seeking privilege and exceptions, you are not immune to scrutiny, maybe if your ideology was a little more tightly constructed and a little less fallacious it might actually be able to stand up to scrutiny rather than simply silence/shut down opposition like we're living in a North Korean Dictatorship. Is feminism an ideological Kim Jong Un? I wonder how much third wave feminism has in common with North Korea's juche ideology? Interesting.

Feminism is like the women who follow it, an ideology that expects to be treated seriously but wants to be completely immune from scrutiny. I'm sorry, but I can respect any ideology eg: multiculturalism, feminism, islam etc which needs to be completely free from scrutiny to operate.

No scrutiny = no credibility.

Fuck feminism.

[–]vaker 19 points20 points21 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is just an example of the general principle that if you're not allowed to question an idea, then that idea is guaranteed to be false. Debate is forbidden because the idea would be exposed as false if any scrutiny was allowed.

[–]IBagGroceriesAMA 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wow, that makes a lot of sense. Is there a name for this?

[–]vaker 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There might be, I don't know. It's just logical to me.

It gets interesting when you start looking around for statements that you're not supposed to question, and things you're not supposed to say.

Voltaire wrote something similar: "To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.”

[–]Baridi 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Welcome to the world of "Progressivism" and the worthless 4th wave feminist.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points24 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Even with minimal knowledge of algorithms you'll get a chuckle out of them.

My personal favourite

#consider <feelings.Xir> #consider <iomegaphone.Xir> #consider <Dworkin.Xir> #consider <progressive_stack.Xir> #consider <Affirmative_Action.Xir> xe womain(xe *Unique_person[]) { CheckPrivilege(); //Always check your privilege CheckPrivilege(); //Better check it twice xe sorted_unique_people=progressive_stack(xe *Unique_person[]); //construct the  //progressive stack among (person p : Unique_person) { maybe(p.gender==male && p.orentation==het_cis_scum) { yell('RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE!!!!!'); crush(p); //Use the function crush in Dworkin.Xir to discard the oppressor ENDMISOGYNY perhaps_and_equally_valid { ynt q = accepts(guilt_feel(p.oppression)); //measure the oppression level according to  //the function guilt_feel in feelings.Xir sorted_unique_people[q]=accepts(p); //assign every wonderful person a place in the new stack ENDMISOGYNY maybe(feels==right) { affirmative_action(&sorted_unique_people) //If the progrym feels like it, it will  //use affirmative action to make the sorting more fair.  //The actual affirmative action algorithm is poorly understood,  //but DON'T MESS WITH IT! IT IS FAIR! ENDMISOGYNY ENDMISOGYNY return sorted_unique_people; ENDMISOGYNY

[–]fiat_lux_ 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Ok, I get that "ynt" is "int"

What is "xe" and why does it stand for variable declaration? If someone understands this reference, I'd be grateful to hear it.

EDIT: Actually found it after an extra 20-30 seconds on Google. Guess I gave up too soon before.

Apparently, it's an obscure gender-neutral pronoun.

I guess it makes sense that it would stand for untyped variable declaration.

[–]fizolof 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Where did this manner of substituting y for i come from?

[–]7Vega 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think it's mocking the feminist spelling of "womyn."

[–]fiat_lux_ 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And persyn. See, "person" has "son" in it, which is clearly gender biased.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So is making God a man in scripture... But Satan as a male is ok

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

wait, I thought "womyn" itself was a mockery... I don't know anymore. Feminism is depressingly stupid

[–]through_a_ways 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

progrym

top fucking lel

[–]fiat_lux_ 19 points20 points21 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The philosophy section is creative.

But without class hierarchy or even classes in general, then how will we have protected classes?!

[–]no_game_player 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As I recall, the philosophical response was that it was not our responsibility to protect our members. Instead, it is your responsibility not to be a fucking rapist.

Ah, yes, there it is:

There is to be no encapsulation: don't tell me to protect my members, tell other functions not to access them!

[–]dropit_sphere 13 points14 points15 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can't begin to describe how much I love this.

[–]GuideGhost15 points 12 years ago [recovered] (9 children) | Copy Link

Github took the original repo down, so it was moved to bitbucket. This was the author's commit message:

Nota bene: In light of recent events, we'd like to express our concern as to the blatant hostility some people in the social media have against the original, old-school spirit of playfulness that same call the 'hacker spirit'. The purpose of this software project is two-fold: one, to explore the implications of 'feminist-inspired logic' on computer programming languages; and two, to explore how much 'hacker playfulness' we could get out of this process. However, too many people, it seems, are none the wiser and perceived our project as something that is unabashedly anti-women, some even accusing us of 'harassing' women. How could a page so self-evidently playful be sincerely misogynistic is beyond all our comprehension, save for the lament that too many people nowadays lack the ability to understand other people before giving in to knee-jerk reactions of hatred and selfishness. Indeed, we dare say, it is these so-called self-brandished 'feminists' who take offence at almost everything that is making females a hard time in the computing industry by perpetuating the stereotype of the eternal victimhood of a female programmer. To this the Feminist Software Foundation is deeply disappointed, and would like to send a pull request to you all to remove that little chip on your shoulder, and enjoy the world a little bit more.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

Did Github really take the repository down? That would be big news.

EDIT: Oh goodness. They did: https://github.com/FeministSoftwareFoundation/C-plus-Equality

The false dichotomy of "poking fun at feminism" == "poking fun at women" rears its ugly head once again.

Does it really surprise you that Github would take it down? Bitbucket will be next. Feminism's power grows unchecked. Any opposition to it, even playful opposition, makes you not "anti-feminism" but "anti-women" and therefore misogynistic.

If Github had taken a stand for free speech, blue-haired women would be outside their office right now with signs causing a ruckus.

[–]GuideGhost3 points 12 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Found lots of them going zany on twitter. People saying they're deleting their bitbucket accounts. People claiming only bros work at bitbucket.

I just hate-followed someone for the first time.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If someone gets that butthurt and deletes their account, that'll clean out the community.

[–]randomkloud 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

fuck bitbucket, I don't know what it is but I'll make an account there and then delete it.

The false dichotomy of "poking fun at feminism" == "poking fun at women" rears its ugly head once again.

What's wrong with poking fun at women anyway? Womyn? Sure, they don't seem to have a sense of humour, but women?

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I wonder how many feminists thought it was a real thing.

[–]through_a_ways 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I linked to it on two x, and a couple fell for it, comments since deleted.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can bullshit my way to writing code like I whined my way through my women's studies degree? Where do I sign up? I'll code the next Google with my feelz!

[–]SlickJamesBitch 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

No constants or persistence. Rigidity is masculine; the feminine is fluid. I.e., fluid mechanics is hard for men 'because it deals with "feminine" fluids in contrast to "masculine" rigid mechanics'.

I never cared much about Dawkins until I saw THIS.

Instead of "running" a program, which implies thin privilege and pressure to "work out", programs are "given birth". After birth, a ....

Don't tell me to give birth you fucking pyg.

  • No compiling.
  • No objects.
  • No state.
  • No constants.
  • English syntax.

Enjoy your HyperHaskell.

I'm not even sure its possible to have an english syntax language that isn't object oriented, because english itself is object oriented (subject verb object). HyperTalk was extremely object oriented.

They've already updated wikipedia articles about it:
