Why are you happy for the misery of others?

This is as juvenile as high school kids laughing at the new guy to hide their insecurity.

We're Better than this

Do you ever get that sneaking feeling like you miss the idea of settling down and starting a family with the love of your life- your soul mate? The Christmases you enjoyed as a child while mom made cookies and dad shoveled the driveway and made snowmen with you and your sister? Reading books by the fireplace in the evening?

God that sounds like a family I thought I'd have some day.

Constant reminders not to slip back into blue pill ways is like a vitamin. Take it regularly.

[–]banalredditing1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Never. I find it as ridiculous as wanting to live in a cabin without electricity.

Ours its the 21st century, my so is great, but there's no such thing as soul mates, I've set my boundaries according to my self respect, and it works. She knows I won't get married or have kids.

Christmas was boring, no one in the family liked it. We shoveled or driveway with an excavator, and I was a better cook than my mom at 14.

So no, I have no nostalgia for things that don't exist. Part of the red pill is being pragmatic. Imho...

And I know I can't convince others how to live their lives... just offer advice if asked, but I won't sit and mock others who may be making large mistakes, I don't like women taking away a man's self worth and dignity, and won't do it myself e either, lest I be a Hippocrate on a soapbox

[–]Dreidhen0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Marriage or engagement is a morally-neutral decision. It's when you lower your self-worth and make what may have been a good or right decision with another person into a poor choice instead with someone who is a distant third or sixth place - you make the decision to for the wrong reason.

[–]banalredditing0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think of it as a contract... because it is. Except that the terms aren't favourable.

Self worth and value in that way is great from an attractiion standpoint IMHO, but I find it a poor metric for making financial and social contracts

[–]luxury_banana-1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes, you're being pragmatic about current legal, social and political practices. That's what it's all about in practice, I agree. I won't buy into it right now either.

However, I wouldn't be so sure that marriage itself is an outdated, or rather outmoded concept. There are some scary things that may happen as a result of the decline of it and what it produced when it was a viable life choice for men. The thing I find most interesting about that doc is how they shy away from some of the most obvious changes that occurred precipitating these problems that are projected.

[–]banalredditing0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Meh, I don't buy it. We've been overproduction since the forties, and I think the change from overconsumption needs to happen. Our history has been all about providing a nest fir women, and it's just not necessary anymore. It's going to require better efficient production, and an aging class basically being provided for by ours.

Everyone knows it's coming. The growth economy has to change, and tbh, we could all work less, but don't. The only difference it's now the excess will be taking care of the elderly instead of improving our of life.

Japan is great in that it gives us a look into the future, cause we are ten years behind the shift.

Well be fine, move back to the city, buy less sit, and grrr rid of your car. I think it's the same scare as people had over y2k, the 08 crash, etc.

People just don't adapt, because change its harder.

There won't be enough people producing to keep it all going. Economies, especially capitalist economies, require growth. Things are shrinking.

War may be on the horizon as hinted with Russia facing problems but still having significant power, among other things, due to these changes that have not a lot to do with women and what is generally talked about in this sub other than the population shrinking due to the soured deal for men causing men to not reproduce as often as needed for replacement levels.

[–]banalredditing-1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They need to change then.

Conspicuous consumption is something brought about by overconsumption, and has only been around since the 30s. It's not the normal way of doing thigns, and was never sustainable.

We are plenty able to care for the aging in a declining population, by accepting the fact that we won't have the decadent lifestyle of our parents. they truly were the last generation to live haphazardly off the fat of the land.

New organization, new institutions will prop up to protect the aging boomers, the rest of us will have to downsize, but at the rate of production efficiency, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. We are able to produce as well as 60 people from teh 40s, and it's only going to get better.

Why are you happy for the misery of others?

Only the self-imposed misery. Also, it's more a reminder of what to avoid than genuine happiness.

Still, funny.

[–]banalredditing-1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's juvenille. If your life is a success because you are doing the internet version of Jerry springer, might be better to start looking into internal rewards IMHO

[–]Modredpillschool6 points7 points8 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Number 5 isn't bad.

[–]wh40k_Junkie3 points4 points5 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I thought 4 wasn't that bad. They're about the equivalent look wise, they're doing something nerdy they both seem to enjoy (And in this humble nerd's opinion, looks pretty fun), fuck it, have at it

[–]1Ill_mumble_that1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

4 is a boss and I don't care what anyone else thinks.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed that guy clearly is comfortable with who he is and living life on his terms.

[–]telnet_reddit_801 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're not all bad. These two are OK if silly.

[–]Coyy0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

you know what some of them look genuinely happy. Could they up their rank and do better ? ........ sure. Hey somebody gotta occupy the low end of the totem pole.

[–]7ba7mra20 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly most of those chicks aren't going to get let on the carousel even if they wanted a ride. They're probably just happy they found someone that loves them.

Buzzfeed?

Lets not stoop TRP, we are better than this.

There's just something about the guy in #1 that tells me he's going to lose the weight in a few years and either put her ass on a treadmill or kick her to the curb.
