Backstory: Keeping things simple: about 1 and a half years ago I was overweight (95 kg!!! That's 25 kg over my ideal weight). I had such a passion for sugar that it was incredible! It took me about 6 months to gain 35 kilograms; here's how:
I'd drink soft/ fizzy drinks, coffee, tea, lemonade (all containing sugar of course) throughout the day. At lunch, I'd bundle up with my feast something sweet (a cake, a chocolate, etc). I'd do this AT LEAST once every 2 days. When I reached home, once every 3-4 days I'd buy a 2.5L bottle of Sprite which would be done by the end of the day.
Physical activity? Getting out of bed, going to the tram, getting off the tram and walking ~ 500 meters to work.
One major thing that I want to point out: I was extremely lethargic. Mornings were hardcore for me: I'd wake up as a living zombie, as if I didn't even sleep that night. During the first 2H since waking up I'd drink 1 coffee and start my second coffee. After these first 2 I start slowly waking up.
I'm fully awake about 4-5H since I actually woke up. By now I probably started my 3rd coffee or am brewing a tea. Life is going (relatively) slowly and the day seems infinite until I get home where I play games on my PC/ watch a movie/ laugh with my (back at the time) gf.
During this whole time I would try conserve energy: use the elevator when possible, when walking flights of stairs I'd jump-walk them, take all possible shortcuts, solve everything as soon and as quickly as possible.
Bottom line: I was 22 and I was barely scraping by on my energy levels even though (I estimate) I was consuming well over 4000 kcals a day!
I had a random revelation and started loathing the current me. Cue dramatic improvement over the following 8 months. (see one of my posts to see how I lost weight and got in shape if you're interested)
Present day/ my question: Even though I got my shit together somewhat, I still do flops: I sleep erratically. -> How do you guys manage to coordonate your circadian rhythm so that when you get in bed at 11:30 you're knocked out cold?)
How do you keep yourself toxin free? I find it VERY hard to stay off sugar, and I also like having a drink or two every other day. There are other intoxicating substances too that we encounter daily. Care to point them out?
I decided that this was a worthy thread because I woke up today and even though I slept 8H I feel like I passed through a grinder and my head is foggy.
Keeping yourself clean of toxins means you'll perform well when fucking, working out, dealing with people/ life, doing your job. Let the open debate begin!
EDIT:
I'd like to thank everyone for the replies! I got a lot of helpful info. One last question though: your opinion on saunas?
