I don't get the downvotes, maybe because we have a nigh ancient mention of the friend-zone, the "suitor-zone".

A bunch of guys deny the friend zone is a thing I don't really get why when they do mental gymnastics to explain that yes all that we describe as the friend zone exists they just want to further eschew blame to the supplicating mook for being such a faggot I suppose, but that is the sort of shit that reinforces the friendzone.

The false hope is the real problem. There's nothing wrong with being platonic friends with a woman, but I've seen so many clueless guys worshiping their female friends in hope of some sexual return on investment. And worse yet, I've seen many women lead them on so they stay interested, but push them back if they get too close. It's this strange friends-but-not-really-but-feel-free-to-buy-me-stuff orbit that people have a problem with when they talk about the friendzone.

When people deny that the friend zone exists, they mean that it isn't actually a thing. The truth is, any kind of orbiter-orbitee relationship bears no resemblance to actual friendship, and the orbiter could easily escape it if they were to man up.

When saying "the friend zone does not exist" the meaning behind it is actually "the friend zone exists only in your mind." You either move on, or make your move.

Interesting. Don Quixote is actually next on my reading list...

Currently rereading Pride and Prejudice and making an effort to note all the occurrences of red pill style thinking. There is a lot more than you'd think. Really, this style of thinking is not radical. People back in the day got it...it's the feminazis that are radical. But that is no surprise here.

Not sure exactly where, but somewhere within the first 20 chapters, probably between 10 and 20, in a telling of a story regarding the characters Torralba and Lope.

I came across and noted this same passage just a few days ago, except my version reads a bit differently.
