I think dressing sharp and being attractive helps men move forward in their careers, too. Attractive people are found to be much more liked and trusted than unattractive people, men and women alike. If you're talking primarily about women who worked in a sex-related field then obviously they were making enough money to get out of that industry and into a different one. Men could do the same thing, I'm sure there a lot of male porn stars who make enough money to do something else and we just don't hear about them because it isn't viewed as "controversial" like female ex-sex work success is.

You're just dead wrong. Study's show that attractive people, in general, have an easier time stepping up in their career. I've read this is especially true with tall men.

As far as using looks for fame, well I think that seems like something that'd be quite obvious, but it actually is a disadvantage for women. Women are more often subject to the requirement of "be attractive" to become famous, whereas men don't have to be anywhere near as good looking on average.

The top echelons are mostly occupied by straight men who are susceptible to women's charms. There simply aren't enough female or gay bosses to allow a lot of men to sleep their way to the top!
