My ex didn't want me changing jobs or buying a house. He was afraid of me being great and abused me to try to keep me small.

100% true. Mine was helpful as could be even before we got married with what I wanted to do, even when I started thinking maybe it would be impossible, and didn't shirk kid duties once we had them. We're both working from home with two kids in different grades doing distance learning. He could choose to be a lazy ass and bluster about how he makes more money than me, but instead he's tech support or lunch lady as the situation demands.

This ties into that whole 50/50 lie for me. It would be so nice if everything was neat and quantifiable but it's not. If you have shared priorities and a partner that's on the same page, you aren't dithering over whose doing what. There's no repetitive requests or baiting someone to argue, you're getting stuff done because you understand each other's goals.
