No - pedophiles are attracted to prepubescent children. It would (should?) still be statutory rape though since a mentally 8 year old can not consent to sex.

I would guess that there are already laws regarding consent to protect mentally hadycapped people who are mentally still children which result in a similar scenario ...

Is pedophilia only about being attracted to childlike bodies? If so, then he isn't a pedophile (but he would still be a rapist and child molester). Also, if pedophilia is only about being attracted to childlike bodies you could argue that people whacking off to Piper Perri are also borderline pedophiles.

If pedophilia is about more than just looks, if it's also about a desire to have sex with someone with a child mind then the man would still be a pedophile.

I honestly don't think it really matters. Both positions could be argued for and in the end, the act itself would still be wrong.

Oh, and congrats on writing one dumbass false equivalency. The difference between a child-brain and an adult-brain is not comparable to the difference between a trans person's brain and the brain of a cis person of the same gender.
