Every woman who I've ever known who dated an asshole didn't think he was an asshole from the beginning. Maybe some women date guys who are assholes from the beginning, but not from the environment that I have been in. Once they find out that he's an asshole, the women I've known who have stayed with assholes (not all of them have) usually stayed with him for one of several reasons (often all three at the same time): out of some belief that they could do something to get him to change back to his previous behavior, because they still had strong feelings for the man they initially fell in love with and idealistically and unrealistically hoped that he wasn't actually an asshole, or because they were plain afraid to leave him. In no circumstance do I know of a woman who actively enjoyed being with an asshole.

Men who are assholes are usually good at deceiving women into thinking that they aren't assholes. Being an asshole doesn't exclusively mean being an alpha Chad either. There are plenty of beta nice guy assholes as well. They just don't get rewarded with sex as much because they aren't alphas. Anyway, there are plenty of men who reward hot women with relationships too and are treated badly by them just because they are hot. The behavior you describe is in no way exclusively a female thing but is a human thing in general, and one could argue that women are pickier from the beginning than men so they are less likely to reward a bad behavior from the opposite sex from the beginning than a man is to reward a woman who exhibits bad behavior and who can get away with it because she is hot.

OP, u/althehistoryguy, women have been sleeping with assholes and douches for years, long before the manosphere was a thing. They don't care about men treating them better, not really - they care about getting hot dick from hot guys and treating everyone else like shit.

This is never going to change. We will just keep going just like this, until at some point it reaches critical mass.
