we can arguably say that openly gay men are less prone to violence and violent crime than straight ones. I think one of the main reason for it is that gay men don't have to compete with each other to get sexual and love companionship at the same level straight guys do. competition can at times lead to excesses that lead to violence. we know that gay men can generally find sex as easily as ordering from Amazon Prime, I personally witnessed it the few times I ventured myself in gay dating (both IRL and online) and I was hit on without having to initiate while I've always been ignored by women despite not being fat or hideous and I would have still be ignored if I hadn't initiate (competing with other guys on my way of course).
but even in a long term relationship they don't have to constantly prove themselves to be worthy of their partner as much as a straight man has to do with a woman providing her the things that normally men provide in a couple.
less stress and less competition lead to less violence. this topic is strictly related to the root cause of 'toxic masculinity' that our culture pretends to pin only on other men, totally and dishonestly overlooking the role of women.
