What books or learning materials helped you learn to be witty?

Not what I would call "learning material" but watch as many old episodes of MAS*H as you can handle.

Wit is something that has to be cultivated through tons of social interaction.

Watch witty people, go out in the world, pretend you're them, go out into the world and practice, practice, practice.

With enough practice you'll develop your own style.

I listen to stand up comedians podcasts, specifically "The IceHouse Chronicles" that Joe Rogan's friend Brian Redband puts on. There was one episode where a group of comics were talking about their camping trip in the woods where they did shrooms and they all told these amazingly funny stories. Basically that podcast is like 6 comedians or more podcasting while they have a standup comedy show going on in the main room (it's like the comics hanging out in the backroom of the club).

I used to go on walks and listen to that and the Joe Rogan podcast (ones with comics or other good conversationalists) and I really got to analyze what people said that was good or bad. Also, since I was kind of isolated most of college due to commuting, it was as close as I could get to hanging with some really funny people with decent life experience.

Keep in mind i've always been able to make people laugh, I think this helped because I'll hear a funny joke or hear someone's style I like and I add that into my own comedic personality (as faggoty as that sounds).

Watching TV shows like Californication or Suits helped with my game. Results may vary though.

It's not exactly a book to improve your wit, but Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends and Influence People" is good for learning social skills in general.
