What if you're confident, but lack boundaries? I think in that case its only a matter of time before someone preys on that.

I don't think it helps with scaring away all abusive men because not all men who get violent are adept manipulators who screen their potential mates for manipulation potential. A lot of abusive guys are just impulsive, angry louts that lack the insight to actively pick out a victim.

What it can help with is setting strong boundaries and sticking to them, meaning that you'll have the strength to leave as soon as he shows his true colours, allowing you to get out before the relationship gets to its worst.

A better method would be to look at their history. Their friends. Their family. Current interests. Previous relationships. The same type of thing TRP suggests men do when screening women.
