Caffeine does little to me, since caffeine merely triggers a sugar rush

The hell kind of broscience is this?

It triggers the adrenaline response, not a 'sugar rush'

if you are working out, don't cut red meat. meat is good.

i however fully agree with cutting the sugar. also, when you eat sugar in the evening, it blocks the creation of hormones (namely testosterone and muscle growth hormone). on the other hand, a good amount of fat (think few brasilian nuts and almonds) before bedtime boosts the creation of those hormones (and you need to have enough of vitamins A and D - so fish)

for example vitamin D is contained mainly in: fish fat, liver, egg yolk and milk. it is also created in your body when you are exposed to sunlight. not all vitamins are from veggies.

on the other hand, vitamin A is plenfitul in veggies so thats that.

as for the fat to build hormones, you need to eat it just before bedtime because hormones are constructed in the deep sleep phase (cca 4 AM).

finally, under no circumstances should you combine fat and easy sugar (e.g. nuts in chocolate). that thing goes straight into body fat

Lots of direction over there if you're so inclined...

i eat pretty low sugar year round, and i also have veins popping out year round too.. but cutting red meat and fat isn't necessary, in fact, when you get so lean you will eventually need the calories to grow muscle..

as a general rule just eating "real food" that didn't come in a box will get you ripped..

[–]NeopolitanAfterglow 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A good rule of thumb is this: Always check the nutritional label. If it has one, don't buy it.

[–]NoRegretj 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I eat lbs of red meat weekly, I'm 5'9 185 lean with a 500lb deadlift. Don't cut out sugar and red meat entirely it simply isn't worth it. Limiting sugar is a good idea. You may not want to get your only protein off of red meat but you actually need far more fat than these idiotic articles you find on bodybuilding websites. Low fat diets are for those on the stuff as it plays a major role in natural testosterone production. Go to a big gym and find a guy who's massive, ripped whatever and not on steroids, he probably eats lots of red meat.

Not all bodybuilders eat mcdonalds everyday.... Theres clean bulking and dirty bulking. If you want to look like a damn blob but is still strong as shit, sure eat mcdonalds, if you wanna be tone, you gotta eat right.

And i know several people who eat nothing but lean meats, fruits and vegetables that compete and are some of the largest people ive ever seen. It's harder to go the right way, not everyone can do it, thus the dirty bulk

they're not mutually exclusive. I'm pretty sure if you are going to not eat red meat, then you don't ever have to worry about ever getting to the level of an IFBB pro and the resulting health effects.

the sugar in fruit is literally the same shit they put in everything else to make it taste good. it's not called fructose randomly.

If you are going to cut out red meat, cut out a ton of carbs and fats and also you're talking about a high you get after cardio, I'm pretty sure a 600 lb deadlift isn't in your near future

[–]SeekingTheWay 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

also, best way to get rid of layer of fat is running. there is nothing like it. i lost 30 lbs in 2 months just by running twice a week 7 miles. no change in diet whatsoever.

[–]pl2312 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

that depends on how you define layer of fat.

compare a marathon runner vs a sprinter. most people are either too fat to run for long durations, or they're lean enough where running for long distances isn't going to do much to make them shed fat. marathon runners are skinny fat, not a real ideal body composition for most people. totally cool if its a hobby or interest, but I wouldn't plan health goals around it at all.

The only time I get "Sugar" is when a fat black woman calls me it.

[–]RAGING_ERECTION3 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I wouldn't cut out fats and carbs completely. You need a decent amount of fats to regulate your testosterone levels - low fat diets are a bad idea for men. Complex carbs are also a requirement for building muscle (protein synthesis) so don't go too low on them either.

I completely agree about sugar though. It is disgusting.

[–]shadowq8 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Motivation increases because sugar leads to insulin release which leads to drowsiness

[–]Dubiousxy 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If it wasn't caught, killed or grown it isn't food.

17 hours ago, someone posted a thread about cutting out sugar, with over 180 replies. It is still on the front page.

Why did you feel the need to make a new thread about the exact same subject? This thread is completely pointless.

[–]pl2312 points 11 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

You realize simple carbs are sugars, right?

the war on sugar is insane. just like the war on fats. It's like saying you're not going to breathe air because you're protesting smog.

I'm not saying you're wrong to cut out complex, refined carbs but to actually make a good physiological change, it's going to help to understand what you're actually targeting, instead of just trying to eat 0 carbs, because they're literally all sugars biochemically.

if you pair every meal with supplements that should tell you how you well your present diet fits your need.

right but if you cut out simple carbs and complex carbs, then your air filter isn't letting in any air and you suffocate. keto isn't meant for long term usage.

Its a question about metabolism

[–]Maaahoney -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I believe it, I've seen it. But how old are you? Take advantage of that now because it won't last forever.

[–]suloco -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

OP knows what's up. Also why would eating healthy be in any way beta? It's obviously more beta to just succumb to culture pressure and eat shit like the rest of them. Going you own way in dieting (and staying the course) is infinitely more demanding and thus not beta at all.

Tried this for my November challenge and it was awesome. Obviously, December was a month of vice with all the stuff but to me it kinda felt like poison so now I'm back to no sugar.

The biggest (but not that hard) part for me was cutting the soft drinks and chocolate treats. Anything sweet that comes in a wrapper goes out. But I need to go deeper. Will try to minimize the amount of basic store-bought food and maximize whole-food and farmer's market purchases.

Man I gotta start running again, you reminded me of the morning runner's high it's so awesome, nothing like it!
