What a "loser" boyfriend provides is Drama. Drama creates feelings. They're addicted to the emotional roller-coaster, even if its mostly negative.

A woman addicted to losers will occasionally have their fill. She'll trade up for a nice stable guy. After a period of time, this stable existence will unknowingly bore her an she'll be "Unhaaaaaaaapy."

She will then sabotage the relationship or branch-swing in an attempt to feed the Drama that she craves.

Women will only branch-swing, if they feel that they will maybe do better. We do not know what she looks like. Could be an ugly landwhale. We also do not know about his looks.

This could also be a nice example for the fact, that you do not need a career in order to get girls. I remember a thread about a guy, who was basically homeless, but just had ONS and affairs and stayed with those girls.

He's loyal and strong-willed and incredibly smart

Looks like he's just very stoic and doesn't give a shit about her concerns. He's unavailable to her, because he's busy playing vidya. Remember that girls get jealous for every kind of bullshit. It might even be a nice car. He has aloofness and outcome independence, otherwise he would get his ass up. You don't need to make six figures to have some alpha traits, and it looks like he has some.

Dat hamster though. She has to go and work her ass off, so he can keep playing MMORPGs, but he's a loving boyfriend... Yeah sure. He's a lazy motherfucker and that's also why he's staying with her.

This is also a nice example for approaching the wall. She wants to start a family, but the looser surely isn't appropriate for this and misses provider traits.

I'm not so sure that the guy is a loser necessarily. The woman goes to work and he gets to enjoy his favorite hobby all day - he's living the dream...lol. I know a guy that is in his mid-30's, had three DUI's, doesn't drive or have a license, works part-time at Home Depot, has four children from three different women, and has banged over 100 women. Conversely, I have a good friend who earns six figures but only ever had sex once or twice in his life. What a sick world we live in.

First off, quality women don't go on reddit and post about their relationships because they have friends in real life.

You can tell by the description that the guy is either a pale walking skeleton or an overweight whale. Thus, the woman is probably a landwhale as well.

That being said, in most cases the answer is that the woman has such low self confidence that she doesn't think that she can do better and find a guy like you or me. So she decides that being with a loser is better than being alone.

Its possible that woman has some mental disorder. She is insecure and believes she cant find anyone else, judging by the boyfriend - shes the nerdy type, how else can you run into such a man in the first place and even take interest.

I get a feeling someone new is coming into the picture. And shes now trying to go through the exercise to justify her upcoming decision to ditch him. Its possible it took her a while to reach a SMV level that is enough to bag a guy above this mans level.

Good ole Tom Leykis explained this on his radio show almost a decade ago. He called it the "magic vagina theory." Basically some women like fixer uppers. As evident in female pornography (romance novels and romcoms) the girl finds the brooding bad boy loser that works as a carnie ride operator at Santa's Village, but all the while is a secret genius with the potential to make millions and it is her job to show him the path to true love (fucking him until he realizes he is a winner) that will wake him up and set him on the path to success. He mentions that is one of the reasons why women love watching those home improvement shows.

Two ways come to mind. It could be that the couple have been together for a very long time. Maybe the girl wasn't as attractive back then and outgrew the guy she's currently with, and then it comes down to the sunk cost fallacy since they've been together for so long already. Maybe she believes the guy still has potential, and likes the emotions from encouraging him, getting disappointed, etc.

It could also be that she needs to fortify her own self esteem by having someone to take care of. I've been in relationships where my partner resented me for having my shit together, and seeing stability and success made her insecure. I see friends become mommy surrogates for immature guys, because they need to feel superior to someone in their immediate life to bolster themselves.

I have a friend who is an attractive woman in her late 20s, single mom, employed, home owner who only dates losers. And I mean guys who are unable to find employment. Her last boyfriend could barely speak English. She literally would drive him around to places for him to apply for jobs as he didn't own a car. He ended up going back to his homeland (down south). He cuts of communications with her, and yet she still planned a trip by herself to his homeland to see him to try to win him back.
