This makes some sense as women lose their beauty as they get older while men make gains in personality, experience and career

Except men also lose their youthful looks and women also make gains in all those arenas as they age.

If you find a potential life partner, like you're saying, you need to be ready to bring that to fruition.

Anecdotally, I've seen too many people who married young (OR married their high school/college sweethearts without exploring their options) go batsh!t insane around age 30. Infidelity, general creepiness, excessive drinking, acting like a single person in bars, etc.

Both genders seem to go through this, not just guys. And while it doesn't happen to every couple that marries that young, it does happen to the vast majority of those that I personally know.

Personal anecdotes prove nothing, of course, but I'd heavily encourage any high school or college aged kids to play the field for a bit.

Why not play the field the longest you can, and then get married at your highest point in SMV?

Optimal for whom? Seriously the best relationships I had were when I was a stupid kid and to me it seems there's a huge disparity on the type of girl you can get straight out of high school and one who is "on the market" at the mid 20's range.

I would say that genetically speaking the "High school sweetheart" half with the penis made out pretty well. The girls I knew (and one I dated) are already pregnant with dudes way below their leagues.

Thing is, they're all divorced or single now.... and all having financial difficulties, so they're probably not going to lead comfortable lives, but the tradeoff is clear... if you want superior genes marry young before the programming gets to em. You want a jetski, accept the fact that a certain group of people are like public toilets, the good ones are taken and the ones available you don't really want.

Honestly I could make a good argument to myself for having married an old sweetheart, divorce rape isn't going to be brutal when you only have a couple thousand.

I can't see myself settling. I don't forsee ever wanting children. That's not to say I'll never have a change of heart but as of now I see no benefits other than a genetic legacy. By extension, the only good reason in my view to ever settle down in a LTR or marriage is for the purposes of child-rearing. I can get all other benefits of a LTR/marriage by other less costly/risky means.

Not only do I not want to settle into a LTR, I don't want to settle down geographically. My ideal lifestyle would be relatively nomadic, not spending unnecessary time in one city/country. This isn't conducive to compromising for someone else. I certainly have never met anyone who'd be worth giving things up for.
