I'd consider myself an average guy in the face, bit shorter than average, awesome physique but shy, so this is just my perspective (which will obviously be subject to bias). I first read the Rational Male because I wanted to understand why women found me unattractive and there are some things I agree with (because I can directly observe them), some I don't.
IMO both men and women are hypergamous, but women can pull it off easier because men have to approach them which leads to an imbalance in "power" in dating, unless you're a high in demand male (tall, handsome, money, etc) in which it reverses.
Males like me are pretty much low value, shyness is not an attractive trait to women, or if it is, it doesn't matter because women don't approach these guys anyway. Being in shape doesn't help as much the red pillers seem to think, women will look at you more but that's about it.
Sorry if that is disjointed, it's harder than I realised to write my thoughts on this subject down.

sounds like a confidence issue, protip talk to every one (not just the ones you want to fuck) and try to make a geneuine connection with every one you talk to after a while aproaching women for any reason will seem like cake.
if you want to put this on baptism by fire mode and get through it in one or two nights go to a bar and pick up and chat with people in clown suit or some thing as ridiculous.

i have only recommended it to my most impatient of friends.
its kind of like quick detoxing a heroin addict, yes it possible but it can also kill the person.
so it either works or doesn't, if you are super impatient for results and you have no fear then do it, the first 15min-1 hr will suck. but after you stop caring or learn to play it off normal interactions will seem like a cake walk.

Maybe I've misunderstood this as it has been some time since I looked at the book.
My impression of hypergamy was "aiming up", which includes looks (being good looking gives high status, hence we get things like the halo effect, etc.) , men aren't exempt from wanting the best looking woman possible. So from this I would say men are hypergamous too.

Many men (who can afford to) will leave their current wife for a Trophy Wife.
Said Trophy wife is literally sought after to "up his status among his social group" or rather his "male friends."
In fact sometimes her pussy is secondary. She's merely a status symbol. Hence "trophy."
I'm sure you'll argue that isn't moving up in status, but I would argue it is.

That is not hypergamy, that is HIS ability to get a trophy wife upping HIS status, he is not "marrying up", he is trading his depreciated wife in for a new model, the trophy wife has no status and is "higher value" in relation to his old wife, not him
None of this is hypergamy. Hypergamy is the tendency of women specifically to marry UP or to go for the highest possible status man she can find. This doesn't mean it has to be universally recognized status, it just has to be recognizable high status to HER, ergo...male competitive eaters have groupies

And /u/wazzup987 points out that both men and women do this when we define "better" in terms of smv instead of status (which is only male smv).

You're framing them in different terms, but the same thing is happening in both situations. Trading in for a higher-value option relative to what you could 'afford' before.

I think red pill does have some insights to offer about peoples underlying motivations in the dating scene. Shit tests, for example, I think are universal for both genders, but executed differently. Its worth reading what they have to say, but it has to be taken with a grain of salt. It seems like many of the redpill debaters have the most negative possible view of humanity and especially women. When they describe womens motivations in relationships and marriage especially it sounds very foreign to me. I don't feel that way and I don't know women who do. But, there is probably a very specific subset of women who have given that impression and are admittedly not in my circle of acquaintances. It seems like the sorority sister, super hot, upper middle class, traditional daddys girls, are their date of choice and have painted a picture of women that most of us don't fit into.
I would consider myself purple, I guess. I'm not passionate about this subject but reading posts here is good food for thought.

My thoughts about PPD are that bluepillers have their idea about TRP made by the posts on TBP, which are the worst of TRP. They have no idea how real terpers are in real life. And we always argue against their meaning of TRP instead of our meaning.

I've never posted in this sub, I've often lurked, I've posted in the red pill before under a different name. I'm not looking for a debate, I'm just stating my opinion. I'm of the opinion that TRP is an extreme, and TBP is also an extreme. I think that everyone should always be improving, both men and women. This is what is appealing to me about TRP. AWALT should be APALT, because every human has the capacity to cheat, steal, or kill. I think that marriage can work, I think if you don't want to get married because you fear losing money in a divorce then you're likely looking for happiness in the wrong places. I'd rather take a chance on happiness, a life where I spend the later years of my life surrounded by loved ones and children and grand children. I have no interest in PUA. One night stands aren't for me, I stick to relationships. I have an optimistic view of life and the red pill seems like it's fear inducing. I was popular in school, I'm good looking, I've always had plenty of options, I choose women that make me feel good and not my ego. The one time I did date that popular girl for the ego I got burned. I learned from that experience and now I look for my equal in terms of a partner, in all aspects, this has worked well for me. How can you have superficial desires, be so shallow and use people and not expect the women to burn you?

No. TRP is attempting to have sex with more women (Primary goal). In order to do that we've attempted to understand mono women's motivations (secondary goal).
What we've discovered in pursuit of that secondary goal has an unfortunate side effect of engendering hate in men towards women in some or many cases (unwanted side effect).
TRP itself attempts to argue against that hatred, calling it "anger phase" because it is not adaptive to the primary and secondary goal. So RPs actual stance on this is anti-hate, although we feel guys need to work through that themselves so we allow them to spout off.
TBP on the other hand specially selects material in order to create anger and hate in their members. Then they all egg each other on about it, in an attempt to build a community of people who have agreed so completely that 120,000 humans are monsters they can mock, troll and ridicule them without bothering their consciousness about it.

That's not quite true.
When I use BP I use it that manner, but when I use Bloops I mean blue flairs from TBP.
And I think they are easily a majority of blue flairs here. 70-80%+
Most BP posters here without TBP subs are black or purple. The rest I see posting at TBP all the time. The exception is petticoats, who seems to have taken blue flair for feminist reasons.

they are basically right when it comes to the fundamental laws of attraction (Young and fit women for men, dominant guys for women) but their views on women are too pessimistic, they seem to consider them as no more than natural incubators and mothers. I believe that, despite not being able to completely live up to the same standards of men, a sizeable percentage of them can be successful in work and education.
