Does TRP think that women in an LTR don't care if their partner respects them as her hypergamy is satisfied?

Everyone wants to be respected.

False rather be feared

Define respect. Women in LTRs want to be treated well and like their role matters. They don't want you to think you have to rely on them.

[–]Define_It1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Respect (verb-transitive): To feel or show deferential regard for; esteem.

God I hate this bot.

[–]CrackheadHamster[S] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

actually the bot said what I would have said. I think that wanting to be held in high esteem by your life partner is generally desired by people of both genders.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

High esteem is just another word to define though. RPers often value their girlfriends for things that they themselves wouldn't want to be valued for and don't value their girlfriends for things we'd want to be valued for. For instance, I value femininity but don't want to be valued for being feminine. I also value domesticity but wouldn't respect men for doing the same. On the other hand, I want to be valued instrumentally as useful for hard tasks but I don't really care how useful a woman is for those.

What do you mean by esteem here? Just generally like and see as being an adder of value? Obviously women value that.

Things like intelligence, strength of character, interpersonal skills. Not just stereotypically feminine things but things that make a person of either gender admirable.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Again, that's too vague to go on. What kind of intelligence? I don't really care how good she is at math homework. What's strength of character or interpersonal skills? What makes a person of either gender admirable?

[–]CrackheadHamster[S] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

OK I'll try to give a specific example. Let's say you go to a party with your SO and you are quickly in separate circles. You hear her group (let's say a mixed gender group of people she doesn't know that well) break into genuine laughter. You glance over to see that she seems to have cracked a joke and is being well received by these people based on her wit. Do you feel a little surge of pride that you came to the party with her? Do you admire her ease in social situations? That she can make people laugh? For that matter do you value a woman being able to make you laugh?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

No, I don't really care that much that she makes them laugh although I do care that she makes me laugh.

[–]CrackheadHamster[S] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

How about a woman who can keep a cool head and make herself useful in a crisis. Is that more appealing to a terper than a woman who needs you to hold her hand like a little girl?

[–]despoticVeracityRed Pill0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Personally? It's great that she has a sense of humour and can make people laugh, but I value her laughing at my jokes more. I don't have the studies on hand, but while both men and women value humour, men value women who recognise it, while women value men that create it.

I appreciate humour, but it takes quite a bit to make me actually laugh. Usually it's limited to shock humour. When my GF makes me laugh, it's usually unintentional.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No. I don't need a woman to make me laugh. There are professionals for that. So, humor isn't a bad thing, but it isn't something I value in a woman.

Define deference.

[–]Define_It0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Deference (noun): Submission or courteous yielding to the opinion, wishes, or judgment of another.

Both partners like to be respected. Its just that it is unrealistic for a hypergamous woman to expect respect.

The only person likely to give her respect is a hopeless beta, who in turn wouldn't get respect.

Unless he is rich, this isn't an LTR.

Doesn't TRP think all women are hypergamous?

[–]IramadanceRed Pill Man6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

AWALT. All women are hypergamous to some extent. This doesn't mean that all women are constantly displaying hypergamy all the time though.

[–]CrackheadHamster[S] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes but TRP seems to values displaying Alpha traits to satisfy a woman's hypergamous nature "A woman will do xyz for an Alpha, a woman will let an alpha treat/talk to her a way that she wouldn't let a Beta"

[–]despisedlove2Reality Pill Tradcon RP0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some people in TRP do.

I think most women are capable of hypergamy if given half a chance. If there weren't any constraints, almost all would be.

[–]hyperrrealLoves fun1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, but in a pretty shallow way.

Most people are pretty wounded, and don't have genuine respect and love for themselves. They want someone who respects them, but always seem to find themselves in relationships where they are disrespected in various ways.

This is because they are uncomfortable with/afraid of real closeness. What's much easier and feels 'right' is replaying the same old dysfunctional patterns, trying to win or earn unconditional love from someone distant or abusive.

I think people want to be respected by their partners, but many are simultaneously acting on a more powerful urge to be with someone who's dysfunctional in a compatible way.

[–]Lonny_zone0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

From my observations (and internet anecdotes), women with a lower market value will put up with a lot of disrespect because hypergamy does not come easily to them.
