Woah guys, some of you are taking this way too seriously. This isn't advice or sexual strategy. This list reads like spacefiller in a histrionic teen magazine.

This all sounds like bullshit.

I consider myself feminist.

Depends on area, time of night, doesn't depend on gender, friends do this.
This sounds manipulative and unhealthy.
Violence is unhealthy in a relationship no matter the gender.
Nagging is a deeper issue.
Chick flicks are not a chick thing, I love sci-fi for instance.
Ugugh.
I download the torrents in the household.
Booze night is awesome! Lets both go to booze night!
Sounds like these people get lost a lot, not listening to each other might bean issue.
Saying sorry doesn't matter to gender. Neither does need.

What indications on the site led you to believe it was feminist focused?

What I think is really interesting is what lists like this say about women and society. This list is pretty clear that you become a man by serving women. Okay. That's an opinion. Fine.

But I'd like to ask the author or someone who posts it what makes a girl into a woman. My guess is that it would be a list of personal growth sorts of things. "a girl becomes a woman when she realizes her power!" that sort of thing.

You have to admit, that dichotomy is interesting.

Anyway, here's my response:

Follow you when you walk out

I'm a big fan of christina hoff sommers' advice (and explanation) here. It's cool to be a gentleman and show deference to women. So yeah, I open doors and let her go first.

However, these are not deference or respect:

Call you back when you hang up

Kiss you when you nag

Pass on booze night just to listen to your rantings

That's just enabling childish behavior. Bad advice. If you want to have a conversation instead of ranting, then cool.

Hug you when you punch him

Never been punched, but a lot of girls like to hit or slap a guy, like if I make a joke - they think slapping a guy on the arm is flirting. What I do is, I say, on the first instance, "do not hit me" and basically just stare until they realize I'm serious.

Two different girls have told me (in one case it was a year later), that I instantly earned their respect for calling them on it.

Watch chick-flicks with you

ok whatever. But I'm pretty sure that doesn't make me a man.

Tolerate your crying over love stories

If you want to date a girly girl (and believe me, you do) then you'd better get used to that.

Hand you remote control

Yes, I will hand you the remote control through the time portal to the year 2003, before they had netflix.

Don't flare up when you give car directions

yes, I will listen to your directions through the time portal from the year 2003 before we had gps phones.

Seriously though, this one I can kind of agree with. A man keeps his ego in check. I'm cool with someone helping me drive, but on the flip side, I wont date someone bossy.

Says "I'm Sorry" and tells you he needs you

If you're wrong, then you should apologize. If you hurt someone's feelings, you should apologize. If you find that you need to apologize a lot, then maybe the two of you aren't compatible.
