Not every man has this experience. Plenty of us grow up with mothers that are cold or emotionally manipulative or have a poor sense of boundaries.

daughters are criticized by their Mothers, ignored by their fathers, and as such grow up with the inherent understanding that to be loved in the world, you must meet someone else's conditions for you.

Sons are also criticized by their mothers, ignored by their fathers, and grow up with the inherent understanding that to be loved in the world, you must meet someone else's conditions for you.

Traditionally, a father will go through hell and back to protect his daughter.

Granted this isn't always the case. Just like my mother was probably one of the most evil people I've ever had the misfortune of knowing.

Isn't the attention and respect of your peers better than some assholes you happen to be related to anyway?

I would argue fathers love their daughters unconditionally, mothers love their daughters unconditionally, AND a lot of men love their wife/GF/SO unconditionally.

There are many women who were unconditionally loved by their parents, it depends solely on the context.

I’d like to hear more of your perspective. I’m happy to see that a woman is expressing her perspective in such a way. I feel like I could possibly see things from your point of view if you can add more detail. And if I can understand your perspective better, we can help eachother. So I’m willing to listen to more that you have to say.

I want to contribute to the idea of trying to change your mind, but I think I just need to understand better how you feel and why you feel it. Most people will have a knee jerk reaction and give you a silly reply that doesn’t cover anything but their own perspective and their own ideas and doesn’t address yours.

So let me know more? I’m not sure what questions to ask to trigger more information or if you could type more without having to be queued on how you feel? Just tell me more if you can. Then maybe I could have a good reply and maybe we’ll learn something.
