I've read various statistical surveys and the like, and really the only one I'd be likely to believe are those by Dr. Terri Fisher of the OSU. Her surveys are different in that she uses lie detectors with some subjects. Her first study like this was done in 2003. College aged women 18-25 who weren't hooked up to the machine would claim an average of 2.6 sexual partners when giving the answer in front of or too a person. Those who provided anonymous answers reported 3.6. Those hooked up on the machine, they reported 4.4. Her study clearly reports that women lie about their numbers. Unfortunately she doesn't actually use the machine to see what the true numbers are, she is just trying to prove that people do lie about their past sex life.

She did a similar study again in 2013, so ten years had past. The results I believe went up a bit for both men and women to around 6 lifetime partners.

The problem though is that I couldn't find out what they defined as "sexual partners." In one Kinsey survey, 66% of one group said that if a person had just oral sex, they felt that was enough to use the phrase "They had sex." or something along those lines.

Another good source can be sex neutral forums. These are forums based on various topics, but don't come across as having a lot to do about sex and relationships. For example, the female writers at Total Sorority Move (and the guys at Total Frat Move) definitely defend the casual sex culture. Some of the female writers have written articles about their one time in a threesome. Any young person reading that would believe that 100% of sorority girls are like that, but that isn't true. On a forum about sororities, you get a different view. There is admission that 10-20% of any given sorority will have girls who are very promiscuous and sleep around. Then you have some that actually are in committed relationships. And they even said that some girls are still virgins, though very few (and that could be due to being unattractive, or introverted). One comment that is good for a debate was when one girl said that most of her close friends had only had about three partners each in college, relationships at that. However, one of their sisters would constantly brag about her virginity, like she was better than everyone else. However, that girl performed oral sex on at least ten guys. So who is more innocent?

It is hard to know exactly what is going on out there with stats to use them to prove various RP beliefs. All we can really do is sit back and see where the marriage rate is for the productive middle and upper classes are in ten years, then in twenty years. If promiscuity is heavily practiced by both genders, then we will have pretty good proof in marriage and divorce rates and if they have changed or not.

I read these stats on higher ed because I work in that field and many higher ed blogs discuss them (and debate them and the rape culture...which is just a huge issue on most campuses right now), and the entire hookup and casual sex culture is a huge issue. I personally believe that if binge drinking went away, so would hookup culture.

If I wanted someone to understand TRP and how it actually works irl (which i dont really care if people do except maybe a close friend like my brother), i would have them read the first page of /r/relationshipadvice, the first page of /r/deadbedrooms, one episode of 'everybody loves raymond', and then ask them if that's what they want their life to be like. if not, read the top all-time of trp

problem solved. reading through relationship advice and DB, it's so cringeworthy and pathetic the shit these guys do and ask about, like they have no idea

The strongest example is atheism. People have begun rejecting religion, belief in God and religious values in favour of... Nothing.

This is no such example.

Atheism's foundation is needing evidence and not having random beliefs in any story shoved in your face in lieu of evidence.

The Red Pill makes a large number of very strong assertions about gender roles

The red pill - predating reddit's existence - does a lot more than that. It investigates. It researches. It poses questions and evidence. Everything in law, policing, war, finance and social relations, including gender roles and relations is questioned in the red pill.

It's very odd this subreddit actually microfocuses to just one fraction of the red pill while calling itself the red pill.
