I'm increasingly noticing women are perpetually engaging in a powerplay against men and reality - everything they say is designed to get something. All the shit tests have a purpose, and that purpose is to get something. Objective reality is just an inconvenience to be worked around, denied, shouted down and power-talked around in order that she *gets something.

And it's not very cleverly thought out. It changes minute to minute in order to help her get what she wants right then. The woman you talked to is at least honest about this. Most pretend they have super female-intution and will pretend to have much more carefully thought out opinions than they really do.

[–]Gunnilingus9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Be careful; some of it is very cleverly thought out. There are countless divorce-raped men out there who are victims of the long-con. Plenty of women have realized that masking their true nature and acting like a unicorn while establishing an LTR can result in a far greater payoff than simply powerplaying right from the beginning. AWALT, but there are different flavors of AWALT and you need to maintain constant vigilance to recognize it. Almost all of us here at TRP are recovering betas (natural alphas never felt the need to reach out to a community like this, since they naturally hold frame and enjoy the accompanying success with women). Notice I say recovering betas, not recovered betas, because like recovering alcoholics, there is always the risk of relapse. As much as we might like to deny it, most of us secretly believe that there is a unicorn out there for us, and TRP is the key to finding that unicorn by weeding out the pretenders. The opposite is true; TRP is the key to realizing that you will never find a unicorn, because they are a fantasy.

BPD girls are notorious for this. If you've never been in a relationship with one, the beginning can seem like heaven. She glorifies your every breath and acts like you're literally God incarnate. Then once you're in, she will make every power move in the book to gain an advantage. It's night and day.

[–]copralalic1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

By BPD you mean borderline personality, correct?

http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/borderline-personality-disorder/index.shtml

I dated one, and felt very lucky not to be beat down with a baseball bat when I broke up with her.

[–]1beerthroway2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes borderline personality disorder. I was afraid for my life at a few points when I was leaving as well. They are fucking craaazy.

Yet, to some degree, AWALT. Just less extreme.

Solid observations, thankyou

There's an article in the sidebar called Powertalk and other Language Categories which resonates strongly with what you're saying and what the OP is describing. Worth a read for anyone interested in understanding the different forms of communication (e.g. conveying information vs. getting something vs. reframing/shifting emotions).

God damnit! Im sick of being on the penalty kill!

Men have Logic and Reason.

Women have Feelings and Emotions.

That's about all you need to know.

Melvin Udall in As Good As It Gets when asked by a female fan of his books how he writes female characters so well: "I think of a man, and I take away Reason and Accountability."

[–]blacwidonsfw13 points14 points15 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women choose between options. Men carve their own fate.

[–]clearerwaters4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Your decision making is as good as it's been honed and has had to be.

Men are raised with expectations. Women are raised with a safety net of daddy, government, and white knights. It manifests in their ability to perform critical thinking later in life. I'll go a step further -- the most prudent women I know are ugly. There's no captain save a ho for girls who look like Whoopi Goldberg.

I used to be Captain Save-a-ho but the ho didn't want to be saved. So I went rogue, took a prize, and am sailing the seas to Swole Island.

Ill pick ya up, we can sail on over to Whore Island and get our masts wet lol

Be sure to stop at the slut inlet. I love that place.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There you have a FR illustrating how men act on their logic and women act on their feelings.

It's good to be reminded of it again and again and again because this is such a fundamental difference on how we operate, that it's one of the biggest obstacles to understand them.

I'm very analytical myself and I keep turning discussion with girls into arguments because I keep forgetting that they are not analytical. I say "I've read recently how they've made scientific studies of X and discovered that ..." and they answer "Oh benzamtrp, you've got to stop getting your opinion from books!" and then I remember how they actually think...

[–]Mihawk011 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She just chills when making decisions.

Sometimes for guys, this is very good to do. Just when you end up playing games 24/7, you know you need to change your decision making.

[–]Aaron5651 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

The correct response to this behavior is utter disappointment. How would you treat a child that follows similar thought patterns?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Reddit admins shadow-banned you for some reason. Nobody can see your posts. Make a new account.

[–]Aaron5650 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I contacted them the other day but have yet to get a response. Is this the sort of thing that is unrecoverable? Should I give up now and just create a new account?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They don't undo shadow bans usually. Just get a new account.

[–]twitarp0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I can see 'em (?)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

you can see this one because I approved it. Try clicking his username and tell me what you see.

[–]krakosia0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

How do you find out you have been shadowbanned?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not a Reddit admin, so I have no idea. But if nobody is responding to your posts, and your comment scores remain at "1", it's safe to assume you're shadow-banned by Reddit admins.

[–]krakosia1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Interesting. Does shadowbanning work on all of reddit or just on specific subreddits?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's reddit-wide. Your account might as well be dead.

[–]Poldonis1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Its neither, she's following the hamster

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, OP is right....she's just following her feelz.

[–]1beerthroway0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The hamster works to justify the feelings that have already happened, not the other way around.

This is discussed very well on the masculine principle on the no maam blog (under women: the most responsable teenager in the sidebar). a man's brain is connected more linearly (front to back) a woman's more laterally (left to right). This is why men are more logical, while women more intuitive. It shows the correlation and explains it much better than I can.

[–]RedCurtis 2 points2 points2 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Either cite your source, or stop spreading pseudo-science. Also, "linear" doesn't mean front to back, it means in a straight line, which makes no sense in that context.

If you're actually interested in the neuroanatomical differences between males and females, this would be a good place to start.

[–]OurMindsLiveOn2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

I mentioned the source. That was the point of my post.

[–]RedCurtis 1 points1 points1 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I meant a scientific source, i.e. something from a peer reviewed journal.

Significance

Sex differences are of high scientific and societal interest because of their prominence in behavior of humans and nonhuman species. This work is highly significant because it studies a very large population of 949 youths (8–22 y, 428 males and 521 females) using the diffusion-based structural connectome of the brain, identifying novel sex differences. The results establish that male brains are optimized for intrahemispheric and female brains for interhemispheric communication. The developmental trajectories of males and females separate at a young age, demonstrating wide differences during adolescence and adulthood. The observations suggest that male brains are structured to facilitate connectivity between perception and coordinated action, whereas female brains are designed to facilitate communication between analytical and intuitive processing modes.

http://www.the-scientist.com/?articles.view/articleNo/38539/title/Male-and-Female-Brains-Wired-Differently/ it took one google search to find this.

Women obviously think differently from men, but this can be good or bad depending on the situation. I love to see my gf's face light up about something she enjoys, and I love the passion she puts into her projects. However, I would not expect her to, for example, handle a complaint at a restaurant or about some other service. In the beginning of our relationship, I would let her rant to me about such problems, and it would sometimes escalate into her calling someone, ending up in a shouting match and sometimes tears on her end, with me finally taking over and spending some time afterwards comforting her. Not saying this happened all the time, but enough that I figured out something- women are great for emotional feedback, but terrible in negotiations that require a level head. These days, if she has a problem- if someone harassed her or some shit- she comes to me first and I will talk it over with the offending party. But mostly I wholly appreciate her emotion-driven nature. You just have to learn what the strengths and weaknesses are of such a nature.

[–]krakosia0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You make a wrong choice you suffer the consequences, she makes the wrong choice she gets a pussypass. You have for all of your life learned subconsciously that you need to decide for yourself and times when you don't no one comes in to save your ass. It works differently for girls. They learn at a very early age that for whatever reason their "decisions" don't really have consequences. If something bad does come her way or something bad happens to someone or something because of her action then she gets a let. When this happens enough number of times the brain muscles required to think analytically are just not there. Hence what the girl told you.

[–]Elodrian-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If I may generalize this conversation to sexes, my conclusion [...]

You may not. A sample size of one is nowhere near the kind of rigour you need to arrive at a sweeping conclusion about the human condition.

I realize that, that's why I added "...(and what TRP teaches us)...", to remind readers that it's not just me, but whole TRP mentality.
