Hey y'all. So I work with a man who does nothing but talk, all day long. It isn't super "bad" talk (tbh he's a very nice person), it's just incessant. I've learned to tune him out and I try not to talk to him and it's an all-day type of thing.

"Uh huh. Yes. No. I don't know." Repeated hundreds of times a day, with a lot of silence unless I'm directly asked something. I do that so that I can work in peace, which is not happening no matter what I do.

And the problem is pretty obvious when I go home. I tune everyone else out. I can't get out of the "gray rock" once I'm at home. It's so reflexive now because I'm bombarded with talk for 9 hours straight that when I'm at home or with friends I just tune everyone out.

What can I do to stop...that? And has anyone ever dealt with a man who will not shut up? What should I do? He's a supervisor, FYI.
