Last week a casual friend of mine, on social media, asked, "Why do guys go to strip clubs for bachelor parties, don't they know that's cheating? Now I have to really rethink whether or not we should get married because I don't think I can ever trust him again."

The responses across the board were about what you would expect, disbelief, anger, insincere support and such, but not the point of this post. I posted something like, "If you think he's cheating, do yourself both a favor and don't get married. You both clearly aren't on the same page and if you don't understand each other now, getting married is only going to make it worse, not better. If he doesn't know you think like this now, there's no reason to expect he'll be happy and stay when he figures it out." As expected I got attacked but I pretty much knew that was probably going to happen and wasn't worried.

The fun, for me, began when they tried to argue that my attitude made the world worse and it was the same as prostitution. So I kindly reminded them that strippers don't care about the men they're grinding on, there's no emotional connection, the guys get no closure, the girls develop mental and emotional issues over time, no one wins. Predictably, they ignored my counterpoint and insisted that prostitution is cheating because it's sex. I said I was talking about the strippers, but prostitutes still have a choice too; they're adults who made their own decisions so quit being a back seat parent and let it go. Told again that I was a parasite and stupid but I was safe if a zombie apocalypse occurred. Thanked them for the good laugh, reminded them that it's hypocritical to call me dumb and justify it by trying to scare me with something that isn't real. I pointed out that I knew what her flimsy argument was trying to say and closed with, "in both cases it's about money, modern society is thoroughly confused when it comes to sex, love, emotions and commitment, but in the cases where both people are equally culpable, no one ever blames the woman. God forbid I ask a woman to be responsible for her actions." No response.

Now I can't say I won, it is social media so it's just as likely she just moved on, but for me it was an eye-opening moment, the hypocrisy, the denial, the blatant double-standard that they take full advantage of and act like that's OK, finally slapped me full in the face. I'm not am ignorant, prejudiced, misogynist of a person and being called one doesn't bug me, but it blows my mind that the majority of first world women have had it SO GOOD for SO LONG yet some are so utterly convinced that they're looked at and treated as sub-human, while they basically run the country or at the very least get whatever they want without the same amount of effort a man would require. And again take no responsibly because "women are taken advantage of", which apparently excuses them somehow of using their brains while simultaneously getting men to do it for them.

So, unnecessarily long rant completed, what I was just trying to say was, I'm in, I'm down, I'm ready to be involved in the take down of this bass-ackward thought process that's ruining the lives of both genders. Thanks for your consideration.
