SUMMARY: We are hard-wired to crave sex with as many different attractive people as we can. Pair-bonding was dead before it began. OP's Note: This is a throwaway and I am not a troll. I have my issues and I'm working on them (minus the nubber).

Let's start closer to the beginning, far before the advent of agriculture. We're talking hunter-gather societies, the way humans lived for NINETY PERCENT of our existence. Think about that for a second. Which societal model do YOU think reflects our biological impulses regarding sex?

There was no pair-bonding for 90% of human history. In hunter-gather societies, everything was shared. We were nomadic. We did everything together, there was real community. Part of this community bonding was everyone was fucking everybody. Children were raised communally. Nobody cared who the biological parents were, and nobody knew. Life was tough no doubt, and it REQUIRED this type of community to get through those winters with Saber-Tooths and shit. Again, for 90% of human history this is how we lived.

Once we starting farming, shit changed. In the beginning, in a lot of ways, life was even harder this way. Farming is hard, we weren't particularly good at it yet; When you fuck up and have no real survivor skills, you and your family will starve to death. Bad times.

Agriculture creates abundance, which leads to inventing money and acquiring wealth. Women now rely on men with money for her and her children's survival. Men need dat dowry. It was about money, land and providing for your own individual family now.

Does this make pair-bonding natural all of a sudden? No, no it does not. Humans have always been real shitty at monogamy. It is literally not natural. Religious Institutions have ALWAYS known this, why do you think they have such draconian religious laws regarding sex? There's a reason they have to put, "Adulterers will be stoned to death," in their holy book, and it has nothing to do with God feeling bad if you put it in her butt. It's about controlling human behavior and thus society.

The institutions that control society have and always will try to control human behavior. Monogamy and religious views on sex are two examples. It tends to not work very well. We already understand this.

You want to bang hotties, she wants to bang hotties. Some people are better at remaining loyal than others, but is this really noble? You are just denying your body what it is hard-wired to need. You won't be any happier for it, you'll likely be less happy in the end. It could even end in an epic melt down where you end up sticking your dick in a glory hole at a grungy gay bar, or you fly off to Argentina on the taxpayers dime to bone your latina lover.

Use this information as you will.

Just so you know, I got this information from the book "Sex at Dawn." The book is short, easy to digest, entertaining, and the information is mind blowing. It has the information I contained here, while also examining bonobos, the primate we are just as related to as chimps, and whose mating practices closely mirror human hunter-gather societies. It also shits all over the official narrative regarding monogamy by psychologists and sociologists. You should read it. Here's the author's website. http://chrisryanphd.com/

TAKE AWAY: Monogamy does not work because it is not natural; As a survival mechanism we evolved to be sluts; You should read "Sex at Dawn" by Chris Ryan.
