Is plan B a form of abortion?

Are there repercussions of contraceptives besides emotional mood swings & hormonal imbalance?

Do they hinder you spiritually?

Many forms of contraceptions including plan B and IUDs prevent implantation of the fertilized egg to the womb which is why many Christians think they are abortifacient drugs (e.g. causing miscarriages).

The pill and other hormonal drugs increase rates of cancers, life threatening blood clots, and other serious side effects including libido. Funny how feminists don't talk about that. I would never recommend them, and I would never let my wife use them.

Overall, you're asking the wrong questions here. You should evaluate your reasoning on why you're recommending or considering using them in the first place. If it doesn't come from a place of faith in God, it's almost always a bad choice.

Source? (asking in good faith)

Googling this one is easy. I just typed "contraceptive pill and cancer" and it brings up a ton of good sources.

Yikes that's good to know. Thanks.

Yeah, you can do that with any of the symptoms I mentioned. Blood clots, libido and others.

It's crazy that these are almost never mentioned or even never heard about. People love fornication though.

In the context of marriage, I do not see a problem with it. Plan B is basically super concentrated birth control for "accidents" if the couple does not want a pregnancy at the time. Having children is a big step. If a couple wants to wait I encourage them to wait.

However, I will say for a single female (Christian) I feel differently because they should not be having sex anyways and birth control only encourages the cock carousel in a secular context.

Is plan B a form of abortion?

Depends on how you define abortion. Some people believe life starts at conception. Others later on at heartbeats and brainwaves. Lastly, some believe life starts at birth.

Are there repercussions of contraceptives besides emotional mood swings & hormonal imbalance?

Since they effect hormones, it can have a lot of side effects from mild to severe and a woman should work out the best options with her doctor. It's something that needs a lot of tuning and then still changes more as she gets older.

Do they hinder you spiritually?

Anything can hinder anyone spiritually. Alcohol, secular music, speeding....

Some people believe life starts at conception. Others later on at heartbeats and brainwaves. Lastly, some believe life starts at birth.

True, but what does God's Word say about when life starts?

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:4-5

So if God knew Jeremiah before he was formed in the womb, then life, according to God, technically starts before conception. The only question left then is this: if you use contraception, is that part of God's foreknowledge and therefore ultimately part of His plan that He allowed to come to pass? The Scripture is not clear on this part. But what IS clear is that the taking of a life through abortion is murder. Even secular governments recognize this, which is why people have been charged with two separate murders for killing a pregnant woman.

Tag u/agoodcrayon: to answer your question directly about Plan B, yes it is a form of abortion because it sometimes ends life after it has begun. From WebMD:

Plan B One-Step works like other birth control pills to prevent pregnancy. The drug acts primarily by stopping the release of an egg from the ovary. It may prevent a sperm from fertilizing the egg.

This part would technically fall under contraception.

If fertilization does occur, Plan B One-Step may prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the womb. If a fertilized egg is implanted prior to taking Plan B One-Step, the drug will not work and pregnancy proceeds normally.

This part would be abortion in its earliest stage, by preventing the fertilized egg (life as defined by God) from attaching to the womb.

And let's be honest here - when do people use Plan B? In the vast majority of cases it is used after unprotected sex, usually outside of a legitimate marital relationship, as a countermeasure.

This is a scripture about Jeremiah specifically. Of course God knows the plans for all of us as a part of His omniscience. That doesn't determine where life begins because God's knowledge has no limits.

God specifically kills children and orders the Israelites to do so in the OT. So I'd not rely on that too much with regards to the "Life is sacred" arguments.

The best argument is that a Zygot is genetically unique and therefore a Person who is deserving of human/natural rights granted by God our creator.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
