Below is a comment that I posted elsewhere, I thought I'd share it here as well.

There are 3 rules.

  • Don't get married - because your freedom will then belong to your wife and government.
  • Don't get a woman pregnant - because you want to avoid paying child support.
  • Don't cohabit with woman - because you want to avoid common law marriage.

It is natural for a man to want to have his own family and kids - a legacy. This is an inescapable natural instinct of a man. However, a MGTOW values his freedom and sovereignty above that of his biological imperative, and he will not trade the former for the latter when the risk is much too high while the reward is uncertain at best and nil at worst.

A red pill aware man could marry, could have children and they could all live under the same roof; but he cannot call himself a MGTOW because that is a line a MGTOW do not cross. This opinion was discussed 9 years ago and the majority of the community agreed with that conclusion.

The reason being there needs to be a distinction for what qualifies as a man going his own way, from the rest of men that follows society's way, or religion's way, or government's way. A man can't just choose to do whatever he want and calls himself MGTOW, for if that's the case he could believe in Feminism and claim to be MGTOW - and that is a contradiction that no one in the community will tolerate.

If you did break the above rules, you are no different than a traditional conservative, nor are you different from a married male feminist. Both either willingly or unwillingly serve the women and the state - a MGTOW serves no one.

We have a term for married men who are MGTOW empathizers; they're called "Awaken While Married." There are youtubers who are like this, and this phenomenon is documented by MGTOW Youtubers as well.
