Romantic love is a modern concept, marriage for thousands of years was a business contract and nothing more. If u marry for love u are almost sure to fail, as science has proven love last for about 18 to 36 months

Marriage used to be worth it.

you were in charge
you lead the relationship
women were under male control
it was the only way to get kids
women were legally pushed to obey themselves
women were heavily socialized to obey themselves
feminist BS hadn’t resonated like it does now
single mothers were rightfully seen as wretched whores

Before social programs woman had to be as good as possible for their husbands so they wouldn't kick them out to the street. It was beneficient for both sides. Clean home, nice home-cooked meals, not bragging about everything wife.

Now the law protect them, they can rape divorce you anytime. So the marriage is fucked up since the government started to interfere. Take out social programs and protection of women in court and you'll see how fast they'll change.

No, not all. Marriage made sense at one time in history, but it no longer does. Today there's almost no benefit in marriage for a man. It helps with social status if she's a looker, and you get access to sex (maybe, and only at first). The rest are all downers. You risk having your life destroyed for those minor benefits. If you're a politician, you probably have to be married. There's so much hate for single men that people won't vote for a bachelor. So if you're rich and a politician, it would make sense to just hire some looker to be your wife while you're in politics. Other than that, there's no good reason to get married.

Modern marriage is a state contract. Marriage was supposed to be a religious contract. Women were better because they couldn't be as shitty, but if you think they weren't cheating constantly you're crazy.

Ideology plays a role in this. If an ideology can't account for it or it contradicts the simplistic world view, it is treated like it doesn't exist. Tradcons, for example, are experts in this style if selfdeception.
