Let me offer another perspective here. I think this method has one major problem, which is that it has a good chance of leading to a beta relapse at some point down the line.

Just like I think Bruce Jenner didn't suddenly become a woman, believing you are a literal different person will only lead to you playing a part. You become someone new over time based on your actions and reactions. Some day the pressure will get to you and you might make a mistake and then everything crumbles and the mask falls. And at that point you will want to embrace your "true" self and before you know it you're posting memes on TBP.

The way I look at it is, I'm the same person I used to be, but now I've realized most of the shit I was worried about before is fucking stupid and I adjust how I react accordingly, and this sends a message to people about who I am. In other words, I'm more honest about what I want and what I feel.

For instance: a girl I was hooking up with not long ago. I was talking dirty to her over text and she randomly brings up her ex or some guy who kept hitting on her...I don't really remember. All I know is, it spoiled the moment and I was bothered by it. She clearly wanted to get something about some guy off her chest and she decided to turn to me for whatever reason.

The old me would have huffed and puffed and simply played along. "Oh really? The guy bothers you?" or a "yeah?" Because the old me felt obligated to listen. I'm still the same person, with the same desires. But this time, I just looked at the text and didn't respond at all. 10 minutes later she apologized for bringing it up...and I still didn't respond. I just went to bed. I woke up to a bunch of unsolicited nudes from her and an explanation that she won't bring up stuff like that again. I just said "don't worry about it" and we never spoke of it again.

Notice the difference? There is nothing "manipulative" or "toxic" here by the way. By not responding, I let her mind figure out what that meant. If I had offered any kind of response, I'd be offering myself up as a beta friend, her attraction to me as a sexual partner would fade, etc. The fact that she responded this way completely on her own to just me simply being silent proves that I was right about what she was doing (probably unconsciously). She realized what she did, but more importantly, she knew I realized what she did, which squashes further shit tests of that nature.

I'm the same guy, with the same desires. I just stopped feeling guilty about those desires and learned how to respond in the proper way. Sometimes I will make mistakes, sometimes my very beta past will be brought up, and the only response I can have is to not care. I don't feel guilty about that either. All that matters is what I am doing now and what my desires are now.

When you think of suicide, you think of people putting a gun to their head, hanging themselves or leaping off a building or cliff to dash their brains out on the ground below. One big significant act that ends it all. When you think of it like that, it's easy to dismiss what /u/B-Adonis says.

What happens when you blow your brains out or shatter your head into pieces after jumping off a cliff? Your consciousness ends. The vehicle that was housing your consciousness, the neural pathways in your brain are irrevocably torn asunder.

Without conscious effort, you operate by habit. You follow your default neural pathways, the path of least resistance, the path most often travelled. When you use conscious effort to do something different, we call that exerting willpower. When exert your willpower to do the same thing regularly, we call that discipline. When you show discipline enough to the point where it becomes default behaviour, we call it habit. You've created a new default neural pathway, you've killed a part of your old blue pill self.

Killing yourself isn't something you can do with one dramatic act, it's something you have to do bit by bit, day by day. You have to wrap your hands around the neck of your old blue pill self and squeeze everyday. It's a life and death struggle and that son of a bitch is going to flail and kick and scream every step of the way until you either quit or win.

Solid concept.

Your ideology/mental paradigm, should be replaceable. It's painful and unresourceful to attach yourself to your ideas/opinions.

This world is a world that can be explained by science. Align yourself with reality. Align yourself with the truth. Let go of ideas and ways of thinking that do not serve you.

I didn't understand what this saying meant until I discovered my old oneitis was pregnant. The girl I loved since high school. The girl I would do anything for, the only one. A part of me died that day, and honestly I feel so fucking light now. There's no more burden of "what could've been" because she knocked herself up. I can have the shittiest day and then remember "at least I'm not a father" and be happy. I'm no longer living in the past.

Many years ago I started a fight with that guy. He was a tough nut to crack filled with bad habits that almost broke us as a man. He never knew what to do or what to say.

In the past five years I have since taken him out by the lake, shot him, put concrete shoes on him, and pushed him in. That's where he will stay, his fat, neurotic, lonely, video game-addicted, tv-addict, porn-addict, nerdy, loser, and awkward bodied self can stay there forever for all I care.

Ego destruction comes from replacing thoughts and beliefs with physical experience.

Afraid of dying? Jump out of a plane a few times. Afraid of disapproval? Provoke it. Afraid of being cheated on? Take your least favorite plate to an swingers club. Afraid of being isolated? Travel. Afraid of being weak? Go to the gym. Afraid of being a loser? Master something. Afraid of shame? Do it then accept yourself.

These things will "destroy" who you thought you were, so that you can accept who you truly are.

It's close to impossible to just 'decide' to do away with your old self and be done with it. Worked for you, great.

Your old habits become nearly instinctive if they've been around for even a little while and take time to unlearn before you can relearn.

Burning that paper doesn't do shit besides make you feel good. Don't try to use feels-chasing to get you out of a place that feels-chasing got you into in the first place.

Build good habits and delete bad habits. The mental / emotional energy should be devoted to actions and real change. Once those good / bad habits have been taken care of move on to the next. Dont stop to mentally masturbate. You'll know it's internalized when you need no mental energy to actualize it regularly.

Interesting, I had a therapist many years ago say something similar. I'd routinely mutter "I want to kill myself" sometimes, almost like a mantra, whenever I caught myself alone and stressed.

What the therapist clarified, was that I didn't actually want to kill myself at all - I was stating that I was dissatisfied with my current existence and wanted those circumstances to end. Suicidal thoughts didn't enter into it.

The old me is dead now, and I'm moon-walking over that pussy's grave.
