What are the odds of the kids mother doing something similar. Slim to none, I'd say. Children are like a participation medal for them having sex. All they had to do was be there.

I had a vasectomy in my twenties because I had the most awesome dad I could ever have wished for. I saw how hard he worked to provide for us and all the things he did to make my life better. I knew I could never live up to what he did and decided I’d rather not be a dad instead of being a sub-par dad. (Ok, also there was a very real fear that any woman I had a kid with would psychologically damage my kid.)

I don’t regret the choice. I miss you every day, dad, and you set the bar higher than you’ll ever know.

My dad understood why I didn’t want kids and was never disappointed or sad about not having grandkids. Instead, he made sure we enjoyed every minute we had together until he passed away.

In western society the value of 'DAD' is / was forcefully downgraded. In this anti-male society, it is OK to demean and make fun of father figure. But in eastern society DAD is still very much respected and revered. Just take a look at this video basically an ad for some company but the message is strong.

Women just don’t understand some things. My ex got upset that I took the kids out of school for a day to tour the Tesla Factory. It was badass and the kids were on cloud 9, she was bitching because she was going to have to spend an extra 30 minutes at night making up some homework.

I did something similar few years ago - I knew a guy quite high on the totem pole in airport police and he made it happen - me and my son had a ride in an armored vehicle called "The Beast" then visited the armory and the range where anti-terrorist police gets to practice - after that we went to the firefighters section and then had a ride in one of those giant fire engines they use in the airport (it had a big spike that is used to pierce the fuselage of the burning plane and pump hundreds of liters of foam per second). He got a real police badge as a souvenir and he said this was the best thing in his life (he was six).

Aww man, this reminds me of my childhood. My dad organised for us to have a tour of a television studio when I was young. All because he did favours for someone behind the scenes - a Tv producer or studio head or something when they filmed on location near his work... still have the pic of my sister and I sitting at the evening newsroom desk framed up in my parents house somewhere.
