even funnier, it was a marketing stunt by an investment services firm for a fund that prioritizes investments in women lead companies. and although the fund is up 26% since it opened in march 2016, S&P500 is up 56% in the same time frame. there's your wage gap right there... female business managers are objectively and significantly worse at business growth when compared to a general population of business managers that does include men.

Can't say I've looked at the numbers on your last sentence, but any kind of social responsibility fund is going to be handicapped when it comes to returns.
A typical general equities fund has the objective of making money, full stop. That's their mission - do what it takes to make money. If they think a female-run business is going to make money, they can invest in it. If they think a male-run one will do better, they can invest in that instead. They are unconstrained.
As soon as you start adding in social responsibility concerns money is no longer the sole priority. If the oil drilling sector is looking undervalued too bad if your fund isn't allowed to invest in oil companies. If you think Elon Musk is going to change the world too bad if he doesn't identify as the correct gender.
Maybe there are times when a female-run business does really well. An unrestricted fund can still cash in on it. A female-business-only fund can ONLY make money in these cases.
And even if male/female leaders were equivalent, since only a small number of companies have female leaders, you would expect only a small number of top-performing companies to have female leaders.
The only reason you would rationally invest in such a fund with the goal of making money is if you thought that companies with female leaders outperformed male leaders. There is no reason to believe that other than sexism.

exactly this. it's physically impossible for the best of A+B+C+D+E to be worse than C alone. the fund which is least restrictive can match the subgroup fund whenever they're winning, and rebalance whenever they're losing. the subgroup fund can't.

All that said, sector funds and so on can be completely reasonable even if they can't outperform the entire market. They allow investors to choose to speculate in an efficient manner, and can also be used for hedging. In the long term it is unlikely that bonds will ever outperform equities but there are plenty of reasons to invest in bonds all the same, and the same is true with sectors/etc.

Women would run a society into economic ruin if given the chance.... Rewarding the irresponsible while punishing the responsible and successful. Its how all empires fall, when the men become weak and complacent and the government consumes itself from within.
Nature works best when the fittest in society thrive and the least fit are allowed to perish. When you attempt to use communism to make everything equal, it just ends badly as it removes incentive to grow and basically kills of the fittest who resist the oppressive government. Eventually that oppressive government falls and the cycle starts anew.

I think it was removed due to being a temporary installation anyway. I forget how the lawsuit went. I do feel for the original creator - his art was never intended to be a comment on gender/etc at all, and this addition basically frames him as part of the patriarchy.
