Kind of sick of this shit. Kinda want to live off the grid. Find some land, solar array, build off the resources, grow weed (and other crops) for cash. Anyone else want to, or currently doing this? Any tips?

Plan out your solar and/or wind turbine energy budget, potable water capabilities, and figure all that out first, that will be the major expense.

It's not complicated, it just takes time and math and is critically important to a well functioning off-grid life.

Mind you, you don't have to do any of that, but water and power is something most people prefer to have in life.

I think about this everyday. It’s like my mgtow version of white picket fence. I don’t know what it would be like to actually do this - if you would get bored and lonely etc - but I want to at least build a small log cabin by myself in my life.

Your best bet is to find a place where water is plentiful and the climate is somewhat moderate vs where solar/wind is great since you can use batteries now to store solar power! Colorado seems like a real winner - somewhere 50-100m outside of Denver. That way you have your remote, off the grid but also a state where pot is legal, gun laws are favorable and the wester/off the grid life is fairly normal.

You also have the amenities of the big city if needed.

I tried but failed, I just didn't have enough resources and contacts, so the only advice that I can give you is to treat this plan like you would treat a really serious investment project.

You need to have not only the resources and the know-how down, you also need to have the appropriate distribution channels or you will end up with a lot of things that spoil quick and lose value real fast (so having a plan b and c for that kind of scenarios is also mandatory, albeit costly).

And don't ever forget the golden rule: You are not in business until you get paid.

I have a bug-out property way out there off-grid but it's in the despairing, dilapidated ruins of the rust belt where nobody in their right mind would want to live.

If you're gonna go this route make damn sure you love not just the land where you want to settle but also whatever community you have around because shit, it's hard not to feel suicidal all alone in the wilderness.

I get the feeling when people romanticize off-grid life they're picturing some Thoreauxesque homesteading lifestyle and not living off caribou like that guy who lived all alone in Alaska
