Props to a friend of mine who contacted me recently to have a chat with him and his son.

The boy can't decide between work, higher education, or some time working overseas. As a result, his father has been organising time to talk with other men. Men who attended university, men who did not, men who followed a straight path, men who went through life with no plan. men who married, those that did not and those who divorced. They've been talking about how each guy got to where he is today, decisions they would have made differently, etc.

My friend is trying to expose his son to a lot of stories from other men to demonstrate that there are many paths through life and at the end of the day we've all ended up reasonably happy and successful despite the decisions we made.

I congratulate my friend for thinking of this as this kind of passing information and experience from man to man rarely happens any more.

If you have a son, consider how little male influence and points of view he may be exposed to and try to do something similar.
