I thought wedding gift registries were mainly for things the newly weds might need to furnish their new home and hit the ground running. Aside from the kitchen appliances and the floor tiles (for the entire house, no less!!!) this is all expensive personal wishlist stuff.

Makes me really appreciate my friends that got married. One, my best friend, understood why I couldn't go to his wedding out of town. He never even mentioned the gift stuff and we've remained close years later. Another, plainly said, "Man, like you need an invitation for my wedding." RSVP'ing was just a logistics formality.

Anyone that says "I expect my gifts" is a kid in an adult's body that never grew up and doesn't appreciate their guests at all beyond their capacity to treat them.

Knew a chick that had three different baby showers, registered for gifts from all 3. One (x3) being a crib in which she already had, had a diaper raffle where if you brought diapers you would get a ticket for each package.

Returned all the diapers for gift cards claiming they didn’t have room to store them.

I still struggle with the thought that these people exist.
